State of the NFC East Post Thanksgiving

The state of the NFC East took it’s normal path on Thanksgiving as two of its team got smashed again. I am pretty sure we can eliminate the Cowboys from the division race, after losing to the Panthers and falling to 3-8. More importantly the boys once again lost Tony Romo for the season, and now questions are raised if they brought him back too soon. Of course they did because Jerry Jones will go to any extreme to win. We have seen that with his support of Greg Hardy who really showed what the 11-0 Panthers are missing in their game Thursday. So they are stuck with Matt Cassel to finish the season unless they can gets their hands on Jerry favorite Johnny Manziel. All the excitement of the Romo return was dashed before the injury when Romo looked no different than Brandon Weeden or Cassel. Later Cowboys! Keep talking about the Dez drop in Green Bay, because their isn’t much to discuss on Dez’s 2015 season because the way to stop him has been shown. Play physical and get in his head. (Note: as I write this I just heard that clown Skip Bayless bring up the Dez drop in Green Bay!)

As for the Eagles they are not yet done by their record, but by the way they have played the past five days it doesn’t look good. Other than a few weeks they have been a disaster since Thanksgiving 2014. It is a huge mess as the defense has become Saints-like when at least the first half of the season they could keep the shaky offense in the game. Now at 4-7 it will be tough for Chip Kelly to rally his troops especially if he has lost that locker room. I think their season ended when Sturgis missed that opening drive field goal. Philly and Mark Sanchez had a great drive going only to be halted and end up with no points. I think it took the air out of the team. There are plenty of weeks left to discuss Chip Kelly’s future but with the college regular season pretty much ending this weekend it could get crazy as college job offers start coming.

Finally for the other two squads left standing, the 5-5 Giants and the 4-6 Redskins. Sad it has come to this. The Giants have a golden opportunity to take complete control of this division on Sunday, but no one has been able to do that yet. Dallas started 2-0 then imploded. Then both the Eagles and Giants looked like they could separate but haven’t. The Redskins suffered a big injury yesterday with Chris Culliver going down for the season with a serious knee injury. Did they pull a Romo and rush him back too soon? Looks that way, but now Beckham and Randle have to be licking their chops to go against this Redskin’s defense. Despite that, I think the home crowd will be up for this game coming off two big wins at home. Even if the Redskins holiday tweets piss many off, even if Cousins has been Ryan Leaf when he plays the Giants and even if at 5-6 some would buy flights to the Bay area. I got the Skins 20-16 and in a tie for the division after Sunday! HTTR!
