Predicting the Inactives for MNF against the 49ers
QB Rex Grossman:
-No shock here, though sad to say if RGIII keeps taking the hits he’s been taking the past few weeks, the Redskins may be forced to break Grossman’s inactive streak. Hopefully that won’t be needed, but Griffin can’t keep getting pounded each week and hope to stay healthy.
OG Josh LeRibeus:
-Sadly this isn’t changing, which given how poorly the Redskins interior line has been doesn’t bode well for LeRibeus. If you can’t make the game day active roster here it is tough to think you can make it else where. Barring an injury LeRibeus may spend his entire second year on the inactive list. That would easily make him one of the least productive 2012 3rd round picks through 2 seasons.
TE Jordan Reed:
-This is a body blow to the Redskins. Reed has easily been the Redskins biggest surprise and breakout player this season. He didn’t pass the concussion protocols and will miss this game. He’s been an integral part of the offense and one of RGIII’s primary weapons. Making matters worse is that number 2 receiver Leonard Hankerson is out, so the Redskins passing attack which wasn’t the most dangerous to begin with, is severely hampered. Hopefully Reed can be back by next week’s game, but for tonight this is a pretty big loss.
S Jose Gumbs:
-Gumbs has been dealing with some injury issues the past few weeks and hasn’t been active much of late. I think he will once again get the inactive tag as the team seems to like Trenton Robinson on special teams and Rambo as the back-up safety.
DL Stephen Bowen:
-Bowen has been on the injury report for weeks now. He hasn’t missed any game action, but his play is becoming more and more suspect. He may need to be shut down completely, but the Redskins could look to give him a week off here. The 49ers are a heavy running team so this wouldn’t be a bad week to have Chris Neild active and have another nose tackle on the roster.
LB Brandon Jenkins:
-Jenkins will likely remain inactive unless one of the four OLB’s ahead of him were to go down with an injury.
WR Lance Lewis:
-Lewis may have been signed to the active roster to replace Leonard Hankerson, but I doubt he is active tonight against the 49ers. Josh Morgan will take the primary role for replacing Hankerson and Aldrick Robinson should see an expanded role. There is a chance the Redskins could make Nick Williams inactive, but I think he might get another chance at punt returner. Also, Williams can play some slot and Moss could be asked to help out some on the outside.
