Redskins Inactive Predictions Vs the Bears
Here are my predictions for who will be inactive on Sunday versus the Bears:
QB Rex Grossman:
-No shock here as Grossman is inactive for the 6th straight game. Despite being inactive each week, Grossman is such a great insurance policy to have on the depth chart.
RB Chris Thompson:
-The Redskins finally sat Thompson down last week and it was right call. He’s not contributing anything on offense, nor does he look like he’s anywhere close to doing so. Thompson’s returns have been extremely poor and he’s just too much of a liability right now. Thompson is also just a return man, where someone like Evan Royster can help on multiple special teams units as well. Maybe late in the year Thompson can work on having more value, not only as a return man, but as a third down back as well.
LB Brandon Jenkins:
-Jenkins looks to be back healthy, but he’s going to have a tough time cracking the active list. The Redskins already have two back-up rush linebackers healthy and active and it is very hard to keep three. They could possibly consider Jenkins over newly signed ILB Josh Hull, thereby giving the new guy a week to get up to speed, but the team will probably opt for Hull. Hull has more special teams experience and that is what is most important here.
S Trenton Robinson:
-The Redskins signed Robinson to help out on special teams, but with him being brand new I think they could opt to give Bacarri Rambo one more shot to at least prove himself on special teams. The Redskins could opt to make Jose Gumbs inactive, but would probably rather have a guy with some knowledge of the defense as a back-up option.
DL Chris Neild:
-Neild appears to be healthy this week, but I’m thinking the team will opt to sit him another week and let him rest up. Neild and Baker will likely rotate in the inactive spot for the rest of the season, but with Neild still recovering from a calf injury he is the smarter call to sit this week.
G Josh LeRibeus:
-Another week, another day inactive. LeRibeus and Grossman will probably never see dress for a game barring injury, the difference of course is that if needed the Redskins would have some confidence in Grossman. This looks like such a busted pick at this point and it’s likely he only made the team due to his draft status.
WR Aldrick Robinson:
-This is definitely the surprise one, but I really think Robinson could see himself inactive. He’s playing fewer and fewer snaps, hasn’t gotten himself into the kick return mix, and has struggled when he’s on the field. Perhaps the Redskins would look to make Fred Davis inactive instead, but I get the feeling they want to find ways to get Davis and Jordan Reed on the field together. Robinson is a deep threat that the Redskins would be sitting, but since he hasn’t shown any consistency it is probably the right call.
