LSU’s Burrow to skip Senior Bowl after tearing cartilage in ribs vs. Clemson

NFL Draft News
Joe Burrow

Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow of LSU, as expected, is sitting out the Senior Bowl, while media speculation about trading up for Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa is heating up.

The Burrow decision was expected. He said on a recent podcast that he tore cartilage in his ribs following a hit in the second quarter by Clemson linebacker James Skalski.

Burrow led the nation in passing with 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns while completing 76.3 percent of his passes. He is the presumed No. 1 overall draft choice.

Right now, though, QB-needy teams are still trying to decide who the second-best signal caller is in the 2020 draft. Prior to suffering a dislocated hip, most figured Tagovailoa would be the second quarterback selected, if not the first.

But his injury clouds his future, so it was big news recently when Tagovailoa’s agent said he expects his client to be able to throw in front of teams, possibly before the 2020 NFL draft.

That’s led to headlines such as “Could QB Tua Tagovailoa fall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?” and “Is Tua Tagovailoa an option for Falcons?” Miami is also a destination mentioned frequently as Tagovailoa’s next stop, as the Dolphins have three first-round picks, including the No. 5 pick overall.

From The Spun:

“… There’s early speculation the Dolphins will trade up a few picks to ensure they get the coveted Tagovailoa.
