Redskins Current 53 Man Roster Projection:

Quarterback: (3) Robert Griffin, Rex Grossman, Kirk Cousins

-This order is pretty much set, and I wouldn’t expect any difference between now and the end of the season.

Running back: (4) Tim Hightower, Roy Helu, Evan Royster, Lennon Creer

-Helu may get the most touches, but Hightower will probably get the most snaps. I also see them trying to keep 4 backs given how injuries have left them short handed the last few years. Creer makes it as an undrafted rookie over Morris.

Fullback: (1) Darryl Young

-I don’t see the Redskins keeping 2 FB’s this year. If they need depth they will use a back-up TE or something.

Wide Receiver: (6) Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss, Josh Morgan, Leonard Hankerson, Anthony Armstrong, Aldrick Robinson

-I think Moss’s experience will keep him i a more active role, but I essentially see Moss/Morgan/Hankerson split the 2-4 receiver snaps and targets. I feel Armstrong may be given a chance given his speed and special teams ability, and Robinson could end up the new return man.

Tight End: (3) Fred Davis, Chris Cooley, Niles Paul

-While Cooley is a popular guy to get the ax I think he survives another season. Cooley will also be counted on as the number 2 FB, and if healthy could have a solid productive season.

Offensive line:(9) Starters- Trent Williams, Kory Lichtensteiger, Will Montgomery, Chris Chester, Jammal Brown; Reserves- Tyler Polumbus, Josh LeRibeus, Adam Gettis, Tom Compton

-The Redskins would be very smart to keep 9 lineman, as Lichtensteiger is a major injury concern, and both Trent Williams and Jammal Brown always seem to have nagging injuries. I could see Polumbus take over for Brown at some point during the year, and LeRibeus may need to replace Lichtensteiger.

Defensive Line (7) DE-Stephen Bowen, Jarvis Jenkins, Adam Carriker, Kedric Golston, Kentwan Balmer, NT-Barry Cofield, Chris Neild

-Last year the Redskins went with just 6 defensive linemen, and it left them very thin (particularly after Golston went down) This led to high snap counts (in games and for the season) for the starters. Utilizing their depth could be key for the Redskins here as it allows them to stay fresh.

Linebackers: (8) Starters- Brian Orakpo, London Fletcher, Perry Riley, Ryan Kerrigan, Back-ups- Rob Jackson, Jonathan Goff, Keenan Robinson, Lorenzo Alexander

-There might be a slight risk, but I see the Redskins only keeping one true rush linebacker for depth. This allows them to keep utility player and special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander. Alexander also has tremendous leadership, making him a tough cut.

Cornerbacks: (5)- DeAngelo Hall, Josh Wilson, Cedric Griffin, Brandyn Thompson, Chase MInnifield

-Hall will probably still considered the top CB despite his massive struggles with that role. I think Griffin will make it to ensure some veteran depth. And look for the team to bank on the upside of Thompson and Minnifield as they look for some future options.

Safeties: (4)- Brandon Meriweather, Tanard Jackson, Madieu Williams, DeJon Gomes

-I really don’t love the idea of a Meriweather/Jackson tandem, but I do feel it will probably happen. Williams at least offers some decent depth, and Gomes will hopefully showcase the potential to take over a starting job by next season.

Specialists: (3) Graham Gano, Sav Rocca, Nick Sundberg

-I feel like Gano will edge out Rackers for the kicking job and the other two aren’t even facing any competition in camp.
