East-West Shrine Bowl chance to shine for Charlotte’s Alex Highsmith, Western Michigan’s LeVante Bellamy
East-West Shrine Bowl might not have the star power that’s found at the Senior Bowl, but it’s still packed with draftable prospects.
The game is Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. EST.

It’s also a chance for players from lesser heralded programs to show they’re ready for the next level, like Charlotte’s Alex Highsmith and Western Michigan’s LeVante Bellamy. Both put up big numbers in 2019
Highsmith (6-foot-4, 242) had 14 sacks this season, tied for third-most in the nation.
Clemson's Jackson Carman is one of CFB's top up-and-coming left tackles. And he wasn't shy in his praise for #Charlotte EDGE Alex Highsmith.
“I’ve been playing football for 12 years and he’s by far the fastest off the ball I’ve ever gone against. Ever.”https://t.co/kheWXyRLwY

“He held his own against Clemson early in the year and flashed a nice blend of quickness, power, and hand use around the corner as a senior,” writes CBS Sports Chris Trapasso, who lists both Highsmith as prospects to watch. “
Highsmith is currently ranked No. 284 in the latest Fanspeak-Steve big board.
Bellamy also put up gaudy numbers this season, finishing with 1,472 yards (10th-most in the NCAA) and 23 touchdowns (tied for most in the NCAA).
“Speed. Speed. And more speed. That’s what you get with Bellamy,” Trapasso writes, adding that Bellamy “has some lateral juice” and good vision.
“He brings a full-throttled game to every contest.”
Bellamy (5-foot-9, 190) is the No. 297 player in the Fanspeak-Steve big board.
