OSU awaits draft decision of RB Chuba Hubbard, WR Tylan Wallace

With a little more than a month before the Jan. 20 date for underclassmen to declare for the draft, two Oklahoma State players have big decisions looming.

Chief among them is running back Chuba Hubbard, who recently said he was playing in the Dec. 27 Texas Bowl against Texas A&M. Hubbard led the NCAA in rushing this season with 1,936 yards. Juniors Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin (1,909 yards) and J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State (1,829) are second and third in rushing, respectively, heading into their bowl games.

Hubbard’s 21 TDs ties him for the second-most in the nation.

His decision is big enough that he made the Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller’s list of the 10 most important underclassmen decisions of the 2020 NFL draft.

“If he does enter the draft, an already good crop of running backs is immediately better,” Miller wrote. “Hubbard would compete with D’Andre Swift (Georgia), Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin), Najee Harris (Alabama) and J.K. Dobbins (Ohio State) for draft positioning, with all five likely to be top-50 picks.”

Oklahoma State also awaits the decision of wide receiver Tylan Wallace. The 6-foot, 185 pound junior had 53 receptions for 903 yards and 8 TDs in eight games before a torn ACL suffered during practice knocked him out for the remainder of the year. Wallace was seen as a possible Day 2 pick before the injury.
