Wide receivers make waves on Championship Saturday
Several of the top wide receiver prospects had huge games on Saturday, including Clemson’s Tee Higgins, Boise State’s John Hightower, LSU’s Justin Jefferson and Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb.
Lamb and Higgins are the highest rated of the four, but some have Jefferson also going in the first round.
Hightower, meanwhile, has quietly put together a solid season. He caught 3 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown in Boise State’s win over Hawaii in the Mountain West Championship game, giving the 6-foot-2, 172-pound senior 48 receptions for 923 yards and 8 touchdowns this season.
For his career, Hightower has 79 receptions for 1,427 yards and 14 TDs.

“The guy is a walking home run,” Pro Football Network’s Nick Farabaugh said during PFN’s live blog on Saturday. “… Hightower’s ability to separate and win the deep ball but also be able to threaten the middle of the field with his speed makes him a great mismatch. Not only that, but his yards after catch ability to just win in the open field is fantastic. Hightower is a day two talent not getting enough attention right now.”
Farabaugh also noted the impressive performances of Higgins, Jefferson and Lamb, along with the entire Ohio State stable of receivers.
- Jefferson: 7 receptions for 115 yards and 1 touchdowns in LSU’s win over Georgia
- Higgins: 9 receptions for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns in win over Virginia;
- Lamb: 8 receptions, 173 yards in win against Baylor
- 5 Ohio State receivers caught at least one pass in the team’s win against Wisconsin
Incidentally, all those teams won on Saturday.
