Is the 2020 WR class the best since the 2014 NFL draft?

NFL Draft News
Tee Higgins

Tee HigginsPro Football Focus analysts say the wide receiver class in the 2020 NFL draft is the best they’ve seen in the six years PFF has analyzed college football.

In total, PFF has 15 wide receivers in its latest top-100. Draft analysts Cam Mellor and Mike Renner said the class could rival the 2014 wide receiver class, which included Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans, Odell Beckham, Brandin Cook, Davante Adams and Jarvis Landry.

Of course, much of the strength of the draft class depends on the number of juniors who plan to declare for the draft. The top five wide receivers in PFF’s latest big board are all juniors.

Another junior receiver who experts say is a Day 1 or Day 2 pick helped his draft stock last weekend, as Clemson’s Tee Higgins caught four passes for 64 yards and three touchdowns.

“For the NFL, Higgins is a big wideout who has mismatch size with strong hands and quality route-running,” Walter Football wrote of the 6-foot-4, 220 pounder in its latest Stock Up report. “If Higgins runs well in the 40, he could really rise, but if he has a solid 40 time, he should be in the conversation for Day 2.”

The 2019 Biletnikoff Award recently announced its list of finalist, including: Rashod Bateman, Minnesota; Omar Bayless, Arkansas State; Ja’Marr Chase, LSU; Antonio Gandy-Golden, Liberty; Isaiah Hodgins, Oregon State; Justin Jefferson, LSU; Jerry Jeudy, Alabama; CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma; Michael Pittman Jr., USC; James Proche, SMU; DeVonta Smith, Alabama; and Sage Surratt, Wake Forest.

The winner will be announced Dec. 12.
