Dante Fowler Jr. is the best combination of versatility, upside and natural skill among the very talented edge rushing group this year. While he’s still unrefined, and definitely not a finished product, his natural skills should allow him to be a good edge rusher initially with the potential to be great.
His tape work is inconsistent and at times he disappears, but the potential is evident in his game. He was moved around some at Florida and that might have set him back a little. He didn’t wow in college at a consistent level, but with good coaching and a system that allows him to play to his strengths he should be a much better pro.
Fowler’s versatility makes him a bit more unique than the other top pass rushers who all are a bit on the light side and may struggle vs the run and in even man fronts. While he might not be the first edge guy taken, he is likely to go within the top 6 picks and should make an early impact.
