OSU RB Hubbard has historic day, WR Wallace Out for Year

Oklahoma State managed to stave off a comeback attempt by TCU on Nov. 2, thanks in large part to running back Chuba Hubbard’s historic day. Hubbard rushed for 223 yards – including TD runs of 92 and 62 yards – in the Cowboys 34-27 win over the Horned Frogs, becoming the first running back to rush for more than 200 yards against a Gary Patterson defense.

Fanspeak’s On the Clock currently ranks Hubbard as the sixth-best RB in the 2020 NFL draft and just outside of the top 100, but that ranking should improve, barring injury. The Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada-native is a redshirt sophomore.

The Cowboys will need all the help they can get from Hubbard, though, as the team reportedly lost highly ranked wide receiver Tylan Wallace for the year. According to media reports, Wallace suffered a torn ACL during practice.

Fanspeak currently ranks Wallace as the 11^th-best wide receiver prospect in what is expected to be a loaded WR class. The 6-foot, 185-pound junior from Fort Worth, Texas leads the Big 12 with 903 yards receiving to go along with 53 receptions and eight touchdown catches. He’s also averaging 25.17 yards per reception on third down and is second in the nation for catches of 20 yards or more.

Of course, this could have major implications on Wallace’s status for the 2020 NFL draft.

Fansided’s NFL Mocks says “… there were reports that Wallace would return to school for his senior season if he did indeed tear his ACL. None of that is confirmed at this point, but a return could make sense for him.”

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report says there were already questions about Wallace’s speed and ability to separate from NFL defenders, adding that he won’t get a chance to improve his draft stock if Wallace still decides to enter the upcoming draft.

The deadline for underclassmen to apply to enter the 2020 NFL draft is Jan. 20, with the official list of early entrants sent to clubs on Jan. 24.
