Leading the NFC South at 7-2 and being almost unbeatable at home, New Orleans is looking like one of the top NFC teams that can go to the Super Bowl. But are they the best team in the NFC?
New Orleans two losses came against the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, both played away from New Orleans. Their seven wins came against the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills and they past Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Of those wins, only the Cardinals and Cowboys have a record above .500 with the Cardinals sitting at 5-4 and the Cowboys now at 5-5. Their opponents (among the winning teams) combined record is a very weak 20-35. If New Orleans wants to be known as the top team in the NFC, they will have to prove it as they play the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks, and twice against NFC South Rival the Carolina Panthers.
Those three teams alone record is 21-7. New Orleans got through their soft first half of the schedule with two losses, now the tougher part of the schedule is on the horizon. Will New Orleans keep winning and win the NFC South, or panic, lose games and let the surprising Carolina Panthers take their place? Stay Tuned.
