3 Options for the Giants at Pick 19

Giants Draft New York Giants

The Giants are coming off a disappointing season missing the playoffs  just one season after they won the Super Bowl. You better believe this is a draft they will take very seriously because they need to being some talented youth on this roster. Especially on the defensive side of the ball.

I also expect them to be serious players in free agency. They have already released a few players to clear some cap space, as well as let some players walk in free agency..

Below is 3 guys I believe the New York Giants should look at in the upcoming NFL Draft in April.

1) Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia

Ogletree does have some off the field issues and playing in New York may not help that but need wise, this would be a huge pick up for the Giants. He is a very talented linebacker with great speed and athleticism.

2) WHATEVER TALENTED DEFENSIVE END DROPS TO THEM

The Giants need to groom another talented defensive end to play with Jason Pierre Paul and Justin Tuck (who did not have a very solid season). Especially since Osi Umenyiora is on his way out.

I expect one or two of Jarvis Jones (Georgia), Barkevious Mingo (LSU), and Bjoern Werner (Florida State) to drop. Mingo to me is the least likely to drop. Jones may drop because of injury concerns and Werner did not have a great combine. To me, all 3 were top 10 picks before the combine.

3) Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia.

I have many friends who are Giants fans who said they would love to pick up Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker. Austin is a similar, younger, and cheaper option. There is no doubt Austin was the most electrifying player in college football last season. Just look what he did against Oklahoma http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxzPryPMB74 .There are as many high lights in that game as most players have in a season. The Giants need another solid wide out to go along with Nicks and Cruz. The Giants have other solid receivers on their team but none of them were consistent. I do think Reuben Randle can be that guy though which is why they may not draft a wide receiver this early.  You can tell they missed Mario Manningham this year. I also think the Giants may draft a tight end at some point in this draft. Austin would also be big in the return game but they also have David Wilson who can do that as well.

Other positions of need I can see the Giants going after is an offensive tackle, a defensive tackle, and a corner back.
