Week 7 NFL Power Rankings – 2 AFC West Teams Remain Undefeated
Week 6 of the NFL Season had one of the most exciting finishes in the Patriots vs. Saints game. And as always there were some shake-ups to our Power Rankings.
So after 6 weeks, here is Fanspeak’s Week 7 Power Rankings:
1. Denver Broncos (Last Week #1):
So they didn’t put up 50 points this week, they still are dominant and 6-0. Now Peyton is heading home to play the Colts on Sunday night. How can he keep his emotions in check for that game? We’ll be watching, that’s for sure!
2. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week #3):
The Chiefs are 6-0 and are in the top 2. Each week that they win, its crazy to think the were the worst in the league last year. This defense is insane too. Can’t wait to see Chiefs vs. Broncos a couple times later this season.
3. Seattle Seahawks (Last Week #5):
Another ugly win for Seattle, but a win is a win and the Seahawks 5-1 and leading the tough NFC West. They can’t look past the Cardinals this Thursday, who have been playing teams tough.
4. New England Patriots (Last Week 6):
Don’t give Tom Brady too many chances or he’ll beat you, and that’s what happened Sunday in Foxboro. It hasn’t always been pretty, but the Pats are sitting atop the AFC East at 5-1.
5. New Orleans Saints (Last Week #2):
Just when you thought the Saints were going to stay undefeated, Brady throws a last second TD pass. Saints can relax on their bye week, I don’t think any team in the NFC South is catching them this season.
6. San Francisco 49ers (Last Week #7):
The 49ers pick up another win and Kaepernick & co. looked great.
The Colts did not look themselves Monday night and now sit at 4-2 before a
HUGE homecoming for Peyton Manning, I mean home game against the Colts. Best game of the year to watch this Sunday night!
8. Green Bay Packers (Last Week #9):
The Packers got a big road win but are decimated with injuries right now. Randall Cobb will be out multiple weeks and they are hoping James Jones will be back this week. This team can’t keep losing core guys to injury.
9. Chicago Bears (Last Week #12):
Good Thursday night win for the Bears. This NFC North race is going to be a fun one to watch! This week they face the Redskins. You know their offense can put up points on the Redskins, but can their defense stop what seems to be a more mobile RG3? That should be the deciding factor Sunday.
10. Cincinnati Bengals (Last Week #8):
The Bengals needed an overtime to beat QB Thad Lewis and the Bills. They are the front runners in the AFC North, but have to play better if they want to stay that way.
11. Miami Dolphins (Last Week #11):
How will the Dolphins bounce back after their bye week? They need to get a running game going. They play the Bills who have no identity at quarterback, so look for their defense to pin their ears back and go after the QB.
12. Detroit Lions (Last Week #14):
The Lions came back to win and now sit atop the NFC North. Can they keep it up against the Bengals this week?
13. Baltimore Ravens (Last Week #10):
Rough home loss for the Ravens and now they face the Steelers Sunday. Will the offense step up?
Huge Monday Night victory for the Chargers last night defeating the tough Colts. Now if they don’t look past the Jaguars, they could be 4-3 this time next week.
15. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week #17):
QB Nick Foles looked good Sunday, so what happens now? Chip Kelly said he’s not announcing starter until he knows update on Vick’s health, so that will be interesting to see that play out. If the Eagles can get a home win against the Cowboys this week, they’ll be setting themselves up very nicely as their schedule is very favorable.
16. Dallas Cowboys (Last Week #18):
Huge divisional win Sunday night. Head coach Jason Garrett said it could come down to special teams, and the Cowboys special teams certainly outplayed the Redskins. Problem for Dallas now is their injuries are stacking up with both Ware and Murray out this week.
17. Tennessee Titans (Last Week #13):
Still really missing QB Jake Locker the Titans lost again Sunday. But they lost to one of the NFC’s toughest teams in the Seahawks. Countdown til Locker returns for Titans fans. They didn’t get an easy part of their schedule during his absence either, as now they face the 49ers.
18. New York Jets (Last Week #16):
The up and down Geno Smith & the Jets continued their season of inconsistency. They simply need him to make less rookie mistakes if they want to challenge in the AFC East.
19. St. Louis Rams (Last Week #26):
Look at the Rams trouncing the Texans for a big upset. And QB Sam Bradford looked like the guy this city has been waiting for.
This team is reeling now losing 4 in a row. Fans cheered when QB Matt Schaub went out with an injury…stay classy Houston. Looks like your backup didn’t do much better as their pick 6 streak is still alive. Shocking start for this team.
21. Arizona Cardinals (Last Week #19):
Give the Cardinals credit for keeping it close until the 4th quarter against the 49ers. Now another big divisional test as they face the Seahawks on Thursday night.
22. Cleveland Browns (Last Week #20):
After the first half, most thought the Browns were going to add another win to their total. But the Lions had a big 2nd half and the Browns are now 3-3. Their defense let them down Sunday and will have to step up if they want to get back in the win column.
23. Buffalo Bills (Last Week #24):
Backup QB Thad Lewis did a great job stepping in on Sunday but injured his foot in 4th quarter. If he’s cleared to play, he’ll start this Sunday. Have to feel sorry for the Bills injury situation at QB. Now they signed Matt Flynn since no one can stay healthy.
24. Carolina Panthers (Last Week #28):
The Panthers seem to be up and down this season, and this week they were up defeating the Vikings on the road. This team still has a ways to go until they’re really making the Saints nervous though.
25. Atlanta Falcons (Last Week #21):
The Falcons were on a much needed bye and now get to face the struggling Buccaneers. May help them get back in the win column.
26. Pittsburgh Steelers (Last Week #29):
The Steelers are now in the win column as the beat the Jets in NY. Now they play their biggest rival they Ravens this Sunday at home. Will be interesting to see the intense division rivalry and outcome despite their records this season.
27. Oakland Raiders (Last Week #25):
Raiders lost to the 6-0 Chiefs and now have a bye week to regroup.
28. Washington Redskins (Last Week #23):
You can’t pin this loss on the defense. While the Redskins showed flashes of both hope and total disappointment, the biggest negative was their special teams play. Overall they had a lot of penalties, loss the turnover battle and couldn’t punch it in the endzone several times, and you are not going to win on the road playing like that. RG3 looked more mobile, but all 3 phases of the Redskins game need to step up if they want to get back on track with a win this week at home against the Bears.
This week Adrian Peterson & the Vikings family dealt with the devastating loss of AP’s son. So they played with heavy hearts on Sunday and lost badly to the Panthers. Can they bounce back in NY on Monday night?
30. New York Giants (Last Week #30):
When is this team going to get their first win? They not sit at 0-6 and Eli is still a turnover machine. Good news is they play the struggling Vikings at home Monday night so have a chance to get in the win column.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week #31):
Mike Glennon & co. put up some points on the Eagles, but still couldn’t get the win. Looks like a long season in Tampa.
32. Jacksonville Jaguars (Last Week #32):
This week we can’t talk about how bad the Jaguars are. How they still lost, they gave the Broncos a game and slowed their offense more than most teams are doing, so that’s a moral victory for this team.
