Redskins Weekly: Analyzing Loss to Dolphins

Washington Commanders Washington Redskins Post Game Recap

1- As for the opener versus the Dolphins it goes like this.  I feel they outplayed Miami and the total yards showed that.  But they lost because they are not a good team and it is that simple.

Two things showed off why they lost.   The special teams is still a mess and cannot be trusted to do anything positive and continue to come up with back breaking errors.  We know this, why keep talking about it?

Second, the lack of depth showed on the Miami offensive score.  Deangelo Hall goes out injured and in comes David Amerson to replace him.  Miami picks on Amerson to end the half and a solid first half is lost.  The penalties were killer also and should be mentioned as well.

2- I think if you polled people who know and follow this team over 70% of them would expect Jay Gruden not survive after this season.

A good part of that group may even say he doesn’t make it to season’s end which is sad because the team after one week was way more competitive than last year.  This is a mess up top and Gruden may be the one who pays.  I didn’t like the hire if we want to go back because I just didn’t understand the process?  Bruce Allen did all these first round of interviews until Gruden came available and they didn’t let him leave Ashburn.  Allen should answer to this also if Gruden goes.

What happens next?  Based on the Snyder years it’s been solid NFL coach to big name college coach to legendary pro coach to inexperienced almost coordinator to big name pro coach to inexperienced coordinator.  So I am going back to big name pro coach or college coach.  Thinking Cowher and Briles will be at the top.

3- Back to the Miami game and what I thought on a few guys
Kirk Cousins I was OK with what I saw but without Jackson they were scared to attempt big plays so I had very little confidence the team could put together enough plays to put together a touchdown drive.  Unfortunately I had the same feelings with Griffin last season.

Alfred Morris Let’s not move on to Matt Jones yet.  Great to see Alf continue to be a bright spot on this team.  He has been such a great player and even more likable guy I almost want him to get his chance next season in a real organization.

Jordan Reed Exactly what we expect from him but everything someone takes him down I don’t expect him to get up without a limp.  I hope he can keep it up because Cousins really needs him.

Jason Hatcher- Man he can be dominating at times.  Like the beginning of 2014 before injuries slowed him down.  Out of all the front seven guys he stood out best.

Chris Culliver- Have to pick that off or we will start calling you C Roj.  Suspension will hurt because he is the best corner they have.

Kai Forbath Have to mention my thoughts on the release.  Stupid in my opinion.  He is too accurate to cut and bring in a kicker with zero experience.  Rather have they cut someone and carry two kickers.  I know of an extra QB who is worthless on this roster

4- This week’s game.
I don’t like this matchup at all versus the Rams.  We also lose to the Jeff Fisher Rams it feels like.  And the special teams mismatch has to scare any Skins fan.  Add to that the suspension of Culliver and the season ending injury of Duke Ihenacho it will be tough to win this one in my opinion.  Maybe the Rams have a letdown after the big win at home versus the Seahawks but I don’t really believe in that.  I am thinking Rams 27-10.
