Cuts:

WR Donte Stallworth- (alreadly Confirmed)

FB Eric Kettani- (already Confirmed)

OT Jeremy Trueblood

OL Jacolby Ashworth

TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi

WR Chip  Reeves

DL Chig Anunoby

LB Vic So’oto

CB Ryan Mouton

-A couple early surprises in my book. I expected the Stallworth cut given how little he’s played in camp. What is a surprise is Kettani given how the team doesn’t have another fullback on the roster for the 4th preseason game. We will likely see Niles Paul and maybe Keiland Williams work there as they show extra versatility. Cutting of Trueblood would be surprising to some given that he’s a veteran and the team guaranteed him $65K, but his play is bad and he’s buried on the depth chart. Despite having a number of running backs I don’t think the team will drop one just yet as they have some tough decisions to make. Also the team will want to rest both Morris and Helu in the final preseason game, and Evan Royster might not be healthy enough to play so there might not be that many truly available on Thursday. Vic So’oto is a mild surprise, but the Redskins are stocked behind the starters with Tapp, Jackson and Jenkins. Though Ricky Elmore could get the first cut, I just get a feeling it is So’oto. Despite losing a cornerback in Crawford, I still like Mouton might get cut this round. Even with the loss of Crawford the Redskins top 5 corners are set. I think Murphy will stay around for the final preseason game, but they can cut Mouton now.

IR:

S Phillip Thomas

CB Richard Crawford

LB Jeremy Kimbrough

-The first two guys are easy decisions, as they are both young with some promise. Kimbrough could end up getting an injury settlement instead of going to IR, but if the team saw any promise in him it would make sense to keep him.

PUP List:

DE Adam Carriker

OL Maurice Hurt

-These are the two players eligible for the PUP designation so the Redskins mine as well use it. Carriker will probably end up being transferred to IR, but just in case he returns quicker than expected and/or the Redskins have a rash of DL injuries they should keep him on the PUP list until they no longer have to. Hurt is an interesting case, because little has been made on his injury situation. There seems to be no timetable for his return, which leaves his status up in the air. Hopefully he’ll be able to help the team down the stretch after getting off the PUP list, but until a timetable is established it is tough to say with any certainty.
