The 2015 NFL Season is One You Can’t Miss

NFL Steve O Speak

The wait is almost over. The 2015 NFL is almost here, and it’s one you cannot afford to miss; there is something to watch for every week. If you are a true NFL fan, you already know you need to keep yourself up-to-date on all the league’s happenings. What do you have to look forward to this season? Try bitter divisional rivals slamming pads with familiar characters; comebacks by players who probably only have one shot left; and the possible end of playoff futility for a long-suffering fanbase.

Divisional Returns

Rex Ryan returns to New York to face the Jets on November 12 for the first time as the Head Coach of their AFC East rival Buffalo Bills. What can Ryan expect upon his return? Mayhem, for one. Jets fans loved their former coach and are sure to welcome him back to New York, that is until the game starts where Ryan is sure to attempt to exploit projected starting Jets quarterback, Geno Smith. Let’s not forget, last year’s Jets—Ryan’s Jets—led the league in sacks. With Ryan leading the Bills this year and Jets defensive core mostly intact, this could lead to a sack-filled game.

When DeMarco Murray spurned the Cowboys after setting the franchise rushing record, he left behind angry fans who called him a traitor and burned his jersey in streets. Sure some fans understood that he wasn’t getting the money worthy of a franchise running back. What they couldn’t understand was that he was leaving America’s Team to join their bitter NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray returns to Dallas on November 8 to face the Cowboys, who by the way still have yet to determine who Murray’s replacement will be.

Quarterback Comebacks

Tim Tebow had been out of the NFL for two full seasons before the Eagles signed him to a one-year contract in April 2015. One of the most polarizing figures in the game—mostly for his unorthodox form and his faith—Tebow continued to work his tail off in the hopes of getting another shot at the NFL. Eagles head coach Chip Kelly sees something in Tebow that he can use within his see-coast offense.

Johnny Manziel rookie year obviously did not play out the way he was hoping. The brash young quarterback did little to back up his desire to “wreck this league.” Even more, he did little to make people think he left behind the reckless and immature attitude he had during his college years. Not that anyone was expecting him to act like Peyton Manning, but he disappointed many people, including himself. In the off-season, Manziel went to rehab for undisclosed reasons, and he recently moved out of his downtown digs for a more remote home on a golf course. He is saying and doing all their things, here’s hoping that translates to success on the gridiron.

Bills Make the Playoffs

Will the Buffalo Bills make the playoffs? This could finally be their year. The Rex Ryan-led squad is aiming to end the second longest playoff drought—15 years—in NFL history. Not only have the Bills not made the playoffs in 15 years, they haven’t won a playoff game since December 30, 1995, when they defeated the Dolphins 37-22. The Bills already have a solid defense; the big changes that will have immediate returns were made to the ground game. The Bills traded for standout running back LeSean McCoy and signed fullback Jerome Felton to create holes for the rushing game. Bills fans have reason to be optimistic this year.

This is just an extremely small sampling of all the exciting 2015 NFL story lines you will miss if you don’t pay attention. To be honest, there are so many ways to keep up—tons of apps and satellite TV deals, like NFL Sunday Ticket provide all the NFL entertainment you could want right at the touch of your fingers.
