DAILY DISCUSSION: Best Fit for Manning?

March 7, 2012 in Uncategorized

So its official…the Colts are moving on from Peyton Manning. We already know what the Colts will do next.  So what about Peyton?

Which team is the best fit for Peyton Manning to succeed and win another Super Bowl?  Which team do you think will actually sign Peyton Manning?

All we know is…this will be interesting!

The question is whether Manning goes to the highest bidder or best situation. A wild card in this is the Jets for two reasons: one, he'll be on a playoff-caliber team and two, he won't have to face his brother every year but rather share a stadium with him. And he'll stay in the AFC.

The is the exact question which will determine where he goes…
If its highest bidder…welcome to Washington or Miami!
If its best situation to win another SB…its Jets or any AFC West or NFC West team (path of least resistance to playoffs and then anything can happen)! I could see him having a lot of success with the Chiefs!
New York would be fun to watch him share a city and stadium with his brother! New York and Miami would be fun to watch him play Brady twice/season or more! And obviously Washington would be entertaining to watch him play Eli twice a year!

I can't wait to see what happens!!

Now that it's official the Peyton Manning Derby begins for real after months of speculation. I think his best option is the Arizona Cardinals, but I'm not sure if that's where he's going. They offer everything he needs to win instantly. Don't get me wrong b/c there's a couple of other attractive landing spots for him, but the Cardinals are the best option.

It may end up with a "mystery" team we're all overlooking at the moment to swoop in and sign him. Look at Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder as big name players who went to unexpected places. Different sport, but using them as a recent example.

Part of me says the Redskins should go and snag him, but I also want RG3, but I think the Rams are asking for to much right now. Whatever way Shanny and Son go I hope they get it RIGHT! I'm beginning to feel a lot like Bill Murray in the Groundhog Day movie!

If you had to pick the best landing spot for Manning today by 8pm, where would it be?

Best landing spot for him is Jets or Chiefs in my mind!
But to answer your question about Redskins…and as a diehard Skinnies fan…I'm now on sign Peyton bandwagon for two main reasons…1) it keeps us from trading up and losing 4 key high draft picks to risk our future on RG3 and 2) I'm ONLY alright with this if the Redskins trade back in 1st round AND still draft either Tannehill, Weeden or Cousins to groom under him. I think all 3 can be amazing QBs given that time and to learn from the best!

We'll see, but as long as the contract is right and incentive based, I now hope the Redskins win the Peyton sweepstakes! Plus, it would be pretty amazing for as long as he was healthy watching him at home at Fedex!
