Daily Discussion: NFL Recap

Lots of shocking & dramatic games on Sunday…
Rams upset the Saints. Giants & Ravens narrowly escape huge upsets at home. Mike Shanahan is handed his first shutout of his career. Eagles blowout Cowboys. After all the hype, Tim Tebow disappoints. Bengals win 4th straight game. Steelers finally best Patriots. And the list goes on and on!
So which of these storylines will have the most powerful impact on the rest of the season? Which of these stories was most shocking to you? Never a dull moment from week to week in the NFL…that’s for sure!

Toss up between Steelers/Pats, and Eagle Cowboys. Steelers game makes the Ravens/Steelers rematch so much more relevant. In fact, it literally changed the ENTIRE landscape for the playoff picture in the AFC.
Eagles/Dallas is a lot more complicated and subtle than most people will realize, but also has the potential to be huge impact on the playoff picture. Giants go to NE next. I can’t remember the last time the Pats lost back to back games, but even if that weren’t an issue, the Pats have won 20 straight at home. Tom Brady will be looking for blood. After that, Giants have 49ers on tap. Then they get Philly at home. Philly hosts Chicago and then Arizona, meaning that when Philly and Giants meet, they could both be 5-4. the winner of that game has the clear advantage.
All of a sudden, Philly is relevant, and could be making a claim for the #3 seed (NFC east champs), or possibly even push 49ers for the #2 seed if they falter at all. THAT has huge implications because of the Harbuagh brothers.
Those are all very good points! Makes me want to vom that Eagles could so easily jump back in playoff picture!!
I think the Eagles are back on track now. If the Giants don’t beat them when they play again, then I think the Eagles are a lock to win the Division.
The Steelers win yesterday made a statement. If they punch out the Ravens next week, then it is going to become a very interesting AFC North race, with the Bengals being the unknown factor. If the Steelers can prevail and come out on top in that Division, then the potential for a Steelers/Patriots re-match in the playoffswill make things real exciting.
I think you are onto something Willy Pops, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now the team to beat in the AFC. They still have to play the Ravens, but it’s in Pittsburgh and they more than owe the Ravens some payback after being embarrassed in week 1 in Baltimore. I see a Patriots – Steelers AFC Championship game in our future.
I think the Eagles can win the NFC East if they show up and play each week without beating themselves with mistakes. I hate to say it, but I don’t see the Redskins winning another game this season. We allowed the Bills #30 defense against both the run and pass look like the 85 Bears. The injuries and lack of depth without a QB or offensive play caller has once again left us looking toward the NFL Draft before November rolls around.
