You know sometimes i wish i was a gm i would certainly do things different. I mean look at the Detroit lions (my fav team), Matt Millen certainly screwed the organization up thru the draft and jus plain bad signings. We are talking about a guy who drafted a receiver in the first round 4 straight years and only one is still wit the team and in my opinion the best wr in the league. Of course we are talking about none other than Calvin (Megatron) Johnson the 6″5 237 Lb receiver who runs a 4.35 in the 40 yd dash. To Put That into perspective the fastest player on the team Jahvid Best runs a 4.35 and hes 40 lbs lighter and 6 inches shorter. But Going back to the draft you can certainly hit or miss on some people but you have to think and worry how can you miss certain people in these drafts ! Let’s take a look back at some of the  draft picks the lions miss out on and who they actually picked up and how the team would look with current players.

2003 draft rd 1 pick : charles rodgers, who they missed out on:WR Andre Johnson,DE Terrell Suggs,DT Kevin Williams,SS Troy Polamalu,CB Nnamdi Asomugha. In the second rd they missed out on DE Osi Umenyiora and WR Anquan Boldin. Now just think about if we had drafted some of those players like say WR Andre Johnson And DE Osi Umenyiora you would now have a deadly combo of both johnsons one in megatron and the other whos not far behind him.

2004 draft rd 1 pick:We actually had two 1st rd choices the first being: WR Roy Williams and  the second being RB Kevin Smith; who they missed out on: only two people stand out really and thats RB Steven Jackson and OLB/DE Jason Babin (Whos tearing up the league with 18 sacks ). Not much stands out in the rds beyond but DT Darnell Dockett. Now Imagine if we had osi and jason babin both johnsons and steven jackson with the current group we have now !

2005 draft rd 1 pick:WR Mike Williams; who they missed out on, immediately after this pick the terror known as Demarcus Ware was selected,then Shawne Merriman and the most obvious is QB Aaron Rodgers. They missed out on some good tackles in this draft and MLB Lofa Tatupa Who was a beast. DE Justin Tuck was drafted in the third rd too.

2006 draft rd 1 pick: OLB Ernie Sims; who they missed out on : DT Haloti Ngata, CB Antonio Cromartie. Do you think tems would like to run at the tandem of Suh and Ngata ? Now in the second the person the couldve taken is none other than CB Devin Hester( he played corner in college not receiver )

2007 draft rd 1 pick: WR Calvin Johnson; we didnt miss this pick as I stated before but we did have a chance to have the best RB in the league in Adrian Peterson. Or LT Joe Thomas ,MLB Patrick Willis,SS LaRon Landry or even CB Darrelle Revis. In the second rd we missed out on C Ryan Khalil. NoNeed To go Back On This One I Wouldnt Change This Pick Ever

2008 draft rd 1 pick: OT Gosder Cherilus; while i agree on the line help this pick was bad when OT Jeff Otahand OT Duane Brown was still available, or even CB Aqib Talib. RB Ray Rice And WR Desean Jackson both went after the Lions selected LB Jordan Dizon. They did manage to nad DE Cliff Avril in The Third rd.

*2009 draft rd 1 pick: Again we had two first rd picks the first being QB Matthew Stafford the second being TE Brandon Pettigrew. While I Agree on the Stafford Pick i have to slightly disagree with the Pettigrew Pick. We had a chance to take a franchise tackle in OT Micheal Oher. The second rd we picked up FS Louis Delmas. Again I have to slightly disagree being that we could have had MLB Rey Maualuga

*2010 draft rd 1 pick: DT Ndamukong Suh; we actually traded back into the first rd and chose RB Jahvid Best. In doing so we passed up on SS Taylor Mays who went in the second rd. The 3rd Rd Seen TE Jimmy Graham get selected

*2011 draft rd 1 pick: DT Nick Fairley. While good on paper the need for a shutdown corner far outweighed need for another Stud DT. In doin so we Miss out on CB Prince Amukamara and CB Jimmy Smith, OT Nate Solder and OT Anthony Castonzo. And in the second rd we took WR Titus Young and traded to get RB Mikel Leshoure. I agree with the Titus Young pick but not the Mikel Leshoure pick when we couldve grabbed DE Da’Quan Bowers.

Now lets look at this and what the roster couldve been :

QB Matthew Stafford, RB Steven Johnson, WR Calvin Johnson, WR Andre Johnson WR Desean Jackson, LT Micheal Oher, LG Rob Sims,C Ryan Khalil, RG Jeff Backus RT Duane Brown And TE Jimmy Graham. Man this roster looks like a probowl roster !

RDE DaQuan Bowers, DT Ndamukong Suh, NT Haloti Ngata, LDE Cliff Avril, ROLB ,Deandre Levy MLB Rey Maualuga, LOLB Justin Durant, RCB Jimmy Smith, LCB Antonio Cromartie, FS Louis Delmas, SS Taylor Mays.

Some Player Like Delmas I Beleive they couldve still had and cromartie they couldve got in free agency. But looking at this the talent level is significantly upgraded
