Senior Bowl South Practice Day Two: Quick Thoughts

NFL Draft

Be sure to check out Steve’s other 2012 NFL Draft Coverage with his: Latest Mock DraftSenior Bowl CoverageDraft Blog, and Draft Page.

Quick Thoughts on Tuesday South Practice:

-Brandon Weeden is looking the best out of all the quarterbacks. Hitting a lot of receivers in stride or on target. He’s shown good accuracy overall and looks completely ready to play at the next level.

-Foles I thought regressed a little bit today. Off the mark on a number of deep balls. Showed good arm strength but not sharp. He took too long to get the ball out at times and didn’t look as good as he did yesterday.

-Chris Rainey was working with both running backs and receivers and looked good. He’s small overall, but he’s still playable, and could be a very nice utility player at the next level.

-Juron Criner showed tremendous hands today, making a number of impressive catches. He got better separation than you’d expect also.

-Jeff Fuller was the best all-around receiver, but he did drop a couple.

-Zebrie Sanders looked better today, as did the whole line in general. Sanders definitely showed enough to think that he can at least start on the right side in the NFL.

-Melvin Ingram continued to impress. Ingram, Quinton Coples and Courtney Upshaw continuously brought heat today.

-Sean Spence is pretty small for a LB, but he plays the game really well. He closes fast and can get off blocks. In the right scheme he could be a valuable starter.

-Casey Hayward was impressive throughout the day, flipped his hips well when asked to turn and run. Also showed a lot of properties of being a leader at Cornerback.

-Antonio Allen struggled some today, but he displayed some nice physicality. I also liked after one particularly bad play, he came back the next play and corrected his mistakes.

I’ll check in again later with more coverage from both practices.
