St. Louis Rams

St. Louis Rams Mock Draft:

ROUND 1:

16. St. Louis Rams – S Eric Reid, LSU

About the Pick: Eric Reid is the top safety is a fairly deep class. He’s an exceptional athlete capable of covering a lot of ground in the defensive backfield. He can play either safety position, though strong safety is probably a better long-term fit for him. He’s very good in run support, and in coverage.

Steve’s Take: The Rams need help on the offensive line, but with another first round pick may look to wait to address that need. Eric Reid has elite upside potential and could be a very attractive option to help solidify this defense.

Analysis:

The Rams have an extra pick to play with in the top round and could look to get creative in this draft. Overall though I see them looking to address their offensive line, and back seven needs on defense. Defensively the Rams are set at corner and pretty good along the defensive line, but their safety and linebacker play really set them back. Adding a top tier guy like Eric Reid could give them a great piece at the back of this defense. Targeting some mid-late round linebackers, could give them some nice young guys to build around going forward. Lane Johnson would give the Rams the OT they are looking for which could really strengthen this offensive line. An offensive weapon like Cordarrelle Patterson could give them a big play threat to add to a young but thus far underachieving receiving corps. This will be a big draft for the Rams as they look to take the next step, in what has quickly become a very competitive division.
