I certainly don’t know the story about junior hockey in Canada and therefore I am confused. How lucrative can owning a junior hockey be? I understand wanting to be near family but if he really is a “Caps for life” kind of guy, why wouldn’t he want to come back if the Caps and others [...]

Joining this conversation late and with the benefit of watching tonight’s game against the Padres. But going into it, I said that Burnett would be the best option as a closer and that proved true. Davey wanted to give Rodriguez another shot right away but it almost blew up in his face. Wasn’t Perry doing a decent job as a closer at Syracuse? At this point, I’d have more confidence in a young guy closing as opposed to a guy who quite possibly will walk you out of a win more often than he will give you a dominating performance like he did the other night. But I’d definitely keep Clippard as the 8th inning guy. I don’t think it’s a good idea to try and plug one hole by possibly creating another big hole.

In reply to - beltwayboysports posted an update: How many times are we going to let Henry Rodriguez burn us and give away precious wins that may come back to bite us in the a$$ in September? I know every closer will blow save chances at times, but Rodriguez has no prior closing resume where you could say he’s in [...] · View

Thanks for asking. I thought it was a very good post. Provided my comments on your site. Sorry if I droned on too much, but the more I think about this incident, the more revved I get!

In reply to - beltwayboysports commented on the blog post Daily Discussion: Did Major League Baseball make the right call in their suspension of Hamels? WilyPops I’d like to get your opinion on my writeup on my site about this incident. I respect your baseball knowledge and even if you don’t agree with my point I’d love to get your feedback. • Yeah, I trust that Leyland knows what “old school” is – Hamels is just an idiot. The old school guys would have just buzzed a couple of fast balls under the chin and had the rookie on his butt a couple of times, with the message being that this is how we do it in [...]

  • Great post! #10 of course is the most critical thing. But, for me, excitement about his potential has always been there – the debut just confirmed it. As for #3, because I am “old school”, I’m not on board with the hair look. It was either in the WaPo article about his swings on the [...]

I’m pretty much convinced after last night’s game, that Washington teams are just snake bitten. Their fans have to develop the mindset that the rug gets pulled out from under them at some point. It has been predetermined that our teams are not destined to win a Championship! But one thing I do believe about [...]

I don’t know. After that game last night, I’m beginning to think that Destiny just doesn’t have a Championship Title in the future for ANY Washington sports team. Whenever something looks promising, the rug gets pulled out from under us. And I had such high hopes for the Nats!

  • Willypops commented on the blog post Daily Discussion: Can the Capitals rebound after last night’s loss?   2 weeks, 5 days ago · View

I don’t know what effect last night’s loss will have on the Caps – I’m hoping that they quickly put it behind them and continue to believe that they can win no matter who they play or where they play. BUT, there are two things I definitely know after watching last night’s game. Hockey players [...]

I really hope this lights a fire in them for Saturday! I think we’ll be able to tell very quickly Saturday how Wednesday’s loss effected them good or bad!

Yeah, the Bengals draft has been amazing. Also like what the Steelers did. Thought that Rainey was a good pickup for them

Def. Bengals, Steelers and Ravens all had really strong drafts…Skins not so much

  • Willypops commented on the blog post NFL Draft Day Three Open Thread:   3 weeks, 3 days ago · View

As an aside, is anybody else as annoyed as me with that stupid Motorola phone commercial where the mother and daughter are crying because she is leaving – the one that they show EVERY commercial break?? Next to watching the Redskins picks, that commercial is the most frustrating thing about this draft!

The Redskins do know that it is OK to address a NEED every once in a while, right? Why Outside Linebacker? Don’t we need the help at ILB?

  • Willypops commented on the blog post NFL Draft Day Three Open Thread:   3 weeks, 3 days ago · View

On second thought, maybe this wasn’t a bad pick. Since it’s likely that RG III will be on IR by Week 6 because we refuse to address the O-line need, we will need plenty of QB backups

  • Willypops commented on the blog post 2012 NFL Draft Open Thread:   3 weeks, 4 days ago · View

Massie or Sanders – at least one of those OT’s will be available. So that probably means we’ll draft a wide receiver here in the 3rd round!

Seeing a lot more surprises tonight. Would have bet that the Rams would have gone wide receiver with that last pick.

At this rate, I guess only Div. II O-lineman will be available when the Redskins get to pick in the 3rd round??
