    @vastreets Florida’s class is really shaping up. Fowler Jr. is a great get.

    @dixonjeff33 @gms1006 @beltwayboysports @vastreets @wishfulthinken @humanmountain – Do we see a Redskins win today on the road in Canada?!

    I think if the defense plays up to its potential (basically not like last week) and we win the turnover battle…we will win! But defense needs to step up and win game for us and John Beck just needs to manage game and not try to do anything too fancy!
    What do you all think? Nervous!!

    @vastreets how’s your bracket doing?

  • Steve Shoup posted an update:   1 year, 2 months ago · View

    @vastreets Florida and Pitt in the same bracket, could be an interesting Elite 8 if they make it that far

      Very well could make for an interesting matchup, but the team to watch within that region in my opinion… is St. John’s. They no doubt have holes within their roster, a true shooter and solid presence in the paint, but I don’t believe there’s a better tested team in that bracket. BYU, Florida, K State, Wisconsin and Pitt have all walked through their conference schedules primarily picking up their BIG wins at home. There isn’t a team within this region that has more solidly proven its ability to go out on an unfamiliar floor and put 40 quality minutes together. St. John’s is a truly a team of runs, not only quick points being scored, but how they are scored. For those unfamiliar with the Johnnies game… think of UNC, except all 5 starts could lead the break. The quality ball handling, athleticism, and WILLINGNESS to run the floor will separate them from early and probably significantly from a BYU team reliant on how many times Jimmer can put in 3, from behind the arc, or with the hoop and harm. The most telling game occuring in that bracket will be how well St John’s can handle the momentum of knocking off a BYU Goliath only to find out that he’s been standing on stilts. The quality D that Florida plays, will test the true resolve of an incredibly athletic St. John’s. The switch from the two three zone to man based on shot clock will be startling to a primarily young team… IF Florida gets back in time to make each possession a half court game. The more St. John’s can run, game by game… the farther they can run through this bracket.

        yeah i agree with pretty much everything you said…is it just me or is this the deepest bracket by far. They might not have the best 1-2-3 of any bracket, but 4-5-6 are good. Not to mention last year’s runner up in Butler, and ODU that did some damage last year and has some good size. Two of the better Cinderella picks in Utah St. and Belmont, as well as Gonzaga whom no one should ever discount. And rounding it out is two traditional powers in UCLA and MIchigan St. that has experienced coaching and rosters with top recruits (albeit who haven’t lived up to expectations).

    @vastreets How bout those Seahawks….man I didn’t see this coming Qwest field really does help in terms of home field advantage, I’ll be interested to see if they can hold them off.

    @vastreets I am very surprised that the Redskins didn’t put in a claim for Moss. I wonder how close they came to pulling the trigger on that move? Also does this mean the team is really content with Roydell Willaims and Joey Galloway??

      Especially with Shanahan’s history of locker room cancers! What is he worried about… breaking up the monotony of questioning Haynesworth’s effort and McNabb’s effectiveness by exciting the team by showing them that the front office is willing to pull out the stops believing that this year’s team can make a run. Not putting a claim in… could very well be a notation from the top of a lack of confidence in this group to be a threat this year. With what we have left on the schedule and the struggles of the offense thus far, forcing the deep safety to roll onto one side of the field would help McNabb’s read process from deep to shallow as outlined in the gameplan. I’m not turning in my fan card, but I’m sincerely upset about this one.

        haha…very true Steve…it has already been such a happy and peaceful lockerroom, birds chirping the sun shining….

        I actually thought the same thing when they didn’t put a claim in for him or Merriman (even though they wouldn’t have gotten him), what does that say about this team, and our belief in this team. Did they not make the moves because it isn’t worth the money for this team, or is it the arrogance of the coaching staff in believing Galloway and Armstrong (nice player, but really overhyped since he is competing against Galloway and Roydell Williams) to be the deep threats. Randy Moss would have opened up the field like you said, not to mention that he has the size to maybe jump or reachout for some of those overthrows.

        While I’m no Moss fan, and wouldn’t touch him in FA, an 8 week try wouldn’t have been the worse thing ever….and honestly could the locker room situation be any worse.

    @vastreets Don’t know if Moss is for the best…should be a ton of good receivers this offseason, Braylon Edwards, Vincent Jackson, Holmes, plus a few more not sure if we should tie our star to Moss. McNabb isn’t on the same page with his receivers right now, what happens if they add someone new?

      I seem to remember a rented DeAngelo Hall turning out ok. I’m not saying that its any type of long term fix, but the situation of a completely ineffective Joey Galloway and the lack of a sizeable threat in the red zone can be answered in one, albeit reasonably expensive, waiver claim. If the NFC is as open as everyone believes it to be… who takes the 2nd wild card spot behind the division loser in the South? This move… would no doubt improve our look at a playoff year. Won’t fix the myriad of problems on the O-line, but if the D can stay hot… this is the immediate piece of the puzzle that’s missing in an offensive gameplan, size + downfield option.

        I completely agree with Steve Guzdowski on this one, not Steve Shoup (ha!). The NFC is wide open this year and if they can come back strong after the break (EVEN with our crappy offensive line), we have a really decent chance!

        I changed my tune a little, bit (wrote about it today) but still the the risk is there. If they do claim him, I don’t want them to resign him at all.

      I’m not brother, I’m actually attending a wine tasting with Mandy after a full Saturday of work believe it or not. BUSY BUSY BUSY. I’ll definitely be taking a break for a few select games this weekend though… primarily Wisconsin v. Ohio State and Minnesota v. Dallas.

    @vastreets Osbourn has another fairly highly recruited player as well, WR Timmy Keith how crazy is it that they are starting to consistently produce talent

  • Steve Shoup posted an update:   1 year, 7 months ago · View

    @vastreets Good catch buddy! Awesome to have another Osbourn player so highly recruited. It’s too bad he doesn’t have Pitt in his final choices, sounds like he will make a pretty good RB.

    @vastreets How do you like the Gators odds today? Glad Demps is playing, but not having your kicker in a game like that could come back to bite them

  • Steve Shoup posted an update:   1 year, 7 months ago · View

    @vastreets wow that game was pathetic yesterday. I need Rodgers to put up a dud tonight, and Johnny ’Fort’ Know to go for the gold (horrible pun mixed with a JMU reference)
