when was the last time the lions were favored by 9!? the problem with taking a 14+ pt spread is the back door cover. When you are up 23-3 late in the 4th and Seattle drives down the field for a meaningless score to make the game 23-10, all of a sudden you lose. Of course, that can be said for almost any pt spread. GO LIONS!

In reply to - Megan Shoup posted an update: Made my Pick’em picks today for Week 2! My Skinnies are favored and of course I picked them! Point spreads were really challenging this week….like the Steelers game…I know they’re going to beat Seattle at home in Pittsburgh…but will they by 14? That’s what makes it fun! · View

Haha! Believe it or not, I still haven’t seen the highlights. I’ve just heard over and over how amazing it was!
Sounds like one for the ages?
You going to the big house this year?

The Central is yours! When is the last playoff appearance for Tigers? Congrats on this season!!

Hoping for a deep play off run ending with a Detroit World Series championship..

it could very well happen. They are playing better as a team, and Verlander will pitch about 35% of the games in the postseason

Steve Shoup · 5 months ago

Tigers are looking really good. This could be a good year for Detroit teams, as I wouldn’t be shocked if the Lions finish 2nd in the North and the Red Wings make another run.

Gary Struble · 5 months ago

Like your point Steve about Verlander pitching 35% of the games. I think that really gives the Tigers an edge.

Another advantage they will have is that since they have the Central pretty locked up they can ensure that he has all the rest that he needs and will be lined up to start game 1. If they were fighting for the division they’d maybe have to give him a start in that final game.

@steveospeak im thiking that boston still can win this thing. tim thomas is very good and vancouver is winning games by the skin of their teeth. i think if it goes 7, boston will win it.

Steve Shoup · 7 months, 4 weeks ago

yeah, the offensive explosion the Bruins showed in games 3 and 4 are hard to ignore, you are right, if Vancouver doesn’t take care of business in game 6 they are hurting

  • Matthew posted an update:   7 months, 4 weeks ago · View

@meg08 im baaaaaaaccckkk. well at least as much as i can be. two kids now! that was fast, haha. as for the NBA and NHL… im hoping for game 7 in both. poor tim thomas. he is unbelievable. and as for the NBA, i want the Mavs to win, but seeing Cleveland suffer is always so fun. lebron getting a title would really get under their skin. haha

YAH!!!! Good to see you back! Congrats on the birth of your 2nd child!! Very happy for you guys!
As for NBA…I know you where you’re coming from but I’d rather see Dirk and the Mavs win.
I wouldn’t be surprised either way if both end in 6 or if both go to 7 games….we’ll see!!

Oh…looking forward to fall to ressurect SLICK’s Picks!!

Ok, so the birth of my second child was the best part of the last month. but the turmoil in Columbus is a VERY close second. I love it! It is like Xmas morning, every morning, when i read the sports headlines and there is more dirt on these guys.

the wings dont have it this year. just too slow and their goaltending is suspect. as for the caps, no one can beat them in the east… but vancouver and a healthy chicago will both beat them in the cup finals.

In reply to - Megan Shoup posted an update: @mgoblue You got us tonight! Maybe we’ll meet again in the Stanley Cup!! · View

and they couldnt have lost to a better team… it was very very satisfying. although, i still have the caps as the east champs. vancouver is the clear cut favorite right now. either way, im just glad we won tonight… too bad we didnt make another friendly bet. what was i thinking? go wings!

In reply to - Megan Shoup posted an update: Well Caps lost tonight…all good things must come to an end. BUT if they can keep playing like they’re playing now THRU the playoffs…we’ll be just fine! · View

ill be rooting against them, surely. the big ten tourney is useless for them and i anticipate them losing because there isnt much to gain or lose for them either way. they will be a #1 seed even if they lose first game. i suppose, depending on who they play, i may have to root for them to win in the big ten tourney so that michigan has a better chance to make it.

i have enjoyed what is hopefully the demise of columbus. you cant cheat and lie and get caught and still trick the ncaa can you? time will tell. i have been watching the wolverines basketball chances closely. many think they are in. a win tomorrow and ill expect it. a loss, and ill be very nervous during selection sunday. a birth would be great for this team. youngest team in major division 1. that means good things for the future. tigers, well, as long as cabrera plays, i feel confident they are contenders, at least for the division. the redwings have me simply thinking a top 4 western conference seed and probably a second round exit. they cant beat the hawks or the canucks. they are reeling right now, and with the season about to come to an end, they need to get on track, asap. god i love sports!

In reply to - Megan Shoup posted an update: @mgoblue Good to see you back on Fanspeak! What are you most focused on right now — Tigers spring training, Michigan basketball or Red Wings? I’m guessing Red Wings! They’ll be in playoffs this year right? · View

I figured you’d have something to say about this! You must also want to puke that they’re #1 in bball right now. I assume you’ll be rooting hard against them in Big 10 and NCAA Tournaments?!

This is indeed unbelievable. Given what Tressel knew and when he first knew of it, I do not understand why he hasn’t been fired by now (well, actually I do but felt I had to say it that way!). I agree with your point about the NCAA/ Ohio St. love affair but as we all know, the NCAA is really married to the $$$. And for that reason I’m afraid that justice will not be served.

  • At their best , i still believe no one can beat the Caps, however the Caps are never at their best in the playoffs, when it counts. having less pressure this year will be good for them since they probably arent going to end up the #1 seed. Pitt and Philly are taking care of [...]
