Yankees free agent search is down to Damon, Matsui, and Ibanez. I will take any of them but I say Ibanez is the best fit. Buster Olney agrees haha
honestly I’d probably say Damon, and for me it’s not too close. All are awful in the outfield at this point and while you hope not to play them out there, between injuries and interleague play it could happen and Damon is the most passable. But really for me it is offensive value. Ibanez last year had the following splits: .256/.307/.440 against RHP, but .211/.232/.353 against lefties, his OPS was also .833 in Philly and .577 on the road. Damon on the other hand was more balanced .715 OPS against righties, and .812 against lefties. Also while he had a pretty significant home/road split (.677OPS vs .807OPS) the fact that he did better on the road bodes well for whomever signs him.
all good points. However, the Yankees only want to spend around 2 million and Damon and Matsui are looking for around 5 and Ibanez is apparently willing to take less.
well in that case it makes sense…but i think the Yankees will get what they pay for
MLBtraderumors.com is reporting that Ibanez and the Yanks are in serious discussions. We will see
haha in my book serious discussions with Ibanez would be ”we will pay you $100 above league minimum, take it or leave it”

Knicks and Lakers after Johnny Flynn. Both teams don’t really have the pieces to get him. Chris Broussard said Knicks offered Balkman and Bibby for him…now that is just disrespectful to Flynn haha

my guess is they may have to part with Toney Douglas to land him

agreed. i think he may be better as a spark plug off the bench. he can definitely play, the question is how many minutes
