I hadn’t seen that yet! 4th…whew. I don’t always like huge expectations early, but I think we’re getting used to them
I really hope we don’t drop any of the easy early games. If we can make it through and give our new QB (my money is on Bennett still) some time to get his legs, I really do have high hopes. I feel good about him – great even. I think he has the potential to be one of our great QBs. The question is whether he’s ready right now. Even without LaMike, we have the best running backs we’ll see for a LONG time right now (De’Anthony Thomas is insane) and every other position is solid. If Bennett can step up, we will be amazing. The pressure is on, but at the same time, the expectations will be lower so he can surprise. By the way, a week ago Duck Nation was upset that we have such an easy non-conference schedule. That easy start is looking pretty good now…great way to condition Bennett.

Darron Thomas to the NFL – what is he thinking?! And what do people feel about it outside of Duck Nation? So far I’ve only heard one or two positive responses. I don’t think he’s NFL ready, but the buzz is that maybe he was never going to be NFL ready, so the going is as good now as it will ever be. Truth? And Bryan Bennett…you’re up!

While i think the move was surprising for Thomas, and I don’t see him taken before the 6th round, I guess he felt that Bennett might start taking playing time. I really like Bennett and think they won’t miss much this season.

Saw it about an hour ago. I was a little sad but not surprised. Running backs have to go when they get the opportunity. We’ll miss him and watch him in the NFL!

Yeah, even a four team playoff is better than this! Then we get to see a mix of conferences playing for the top spot rather than just assuming the SEC is dominant because people ”feel” that way.

I agree. I think a playoff system is the best option, although it couldn’t be a long playoff series due to the fact that the giving a college kid another 3 opportunities to get banged up would be problematic. One of the commentators last night suggested a +1 playoff system where #1 goes against #4, #2 against #3 and the winners play for the BCS. That isn’t bad. Maybe something modified from that to include 8 teams.

Totally agreed! Yes, some games are going to be lopsided just because of way bowl games are set. Baylor vs. Washington being one of them!
This is why College Football needs PLAYOFFS!! Would be so much more fair for schools and entertaining for fans!!

I didn’t think about that (having a college kid play another 3-4 games). That makes sense. I think atleast an 8 team playoff would be the best though!! Here’s hoping!

I don’t buy that excuse of a college kid playing 3-4 more games. 1. FCS, Division II and Division III schools all do playoff systems and it has worked for years. 2. this is during the most school breaks so it isn’t as though they are taking the kids away from school.

thanks! yeah the Senior Bowl week has been a little crazy so far, but a great experience. That Kelly rollacoaster must have been tough. He made the smart move for right now, but hopefully this doesn’t worry too many recruits.
