Too my fans, Have an early question for you all. My fantasy baseball team is a keeper league and I have Andrew McCutchen in the 2nd, Adrian Gonzalez in the 3rd, Tommy Hanson in the 6th, and Jhoulys Chacin in the 14th. I got last place last year. (BS) So I ended up with the #1 pick. I am deciding between 3 guys, please give me your input. SS/3B Hanley Ramirez cannot be kept and I think he is the best option, but I do like 2B Dustin Pedroia since I have 1B Adrian Gonzalez, or do I just screw it and go SP CC Sabathia who isnt being kept.? Thanks for the help all
That’s a tough one.
1) Hanley Ramirez has two things working against him. A) His injuries this past year. Is he 100% ready to go? B) Is he really okay with the move to 3B? Because a move like that can mess with a player (see: Peralta, Jhonny re: Cleveland Indians), so there is that as well.
2) Dustin Pedroia is probably entering the phase of his career (in other words, age) where you will see his numbers plateau, because well, not everybody can be Barry Bonds. So I think if he stays healthy, you’ll probably see what he did last year, be the norm. Accounting for the drops in power, average, speed … etc., that occur when you age.
3) CC Sabathia is the only player you listed that you know what you’re going to get (injury free of course). You’re going to get around 20 wins, with an ERA in the low 3.XX, with about 200 strikeouts and a WHIP in the high 1.1XX maybe 1.2XX.
I think that Hanley is the highest risk (because of his move to 3B and his injuries last year, but mostly the move to 3B and how that will affect his psyche), Sabathia is the sure thing, and Pedroia is … well your third best option IMO.
It just depends on your style. Do you prefer to hitting or pitching to be the more dominate aspect of your team? If it were me, I’d go Hanley Ramirez, but it’s close between him and CC. The reason being, is that you can do fairly well in fantasy baseball just by picking up hot pitchers throughout the year vs. trying to find a hot bat if needed.
I would probably say Hanley. As much as C.C. is a workhorse and is going to put up big win numbers, pitchers are so unpredictable.
I like Pedroia as well, but I just think Hanley will have a better year as he looks to prove himself.
sorry the Spambot comment was mine
You are awarded no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
I like Pedroia mostly because I have Adrian Gonzalez. I think If i take Hanley I can grab like a Brandon Phillips in the 4th or 5th (maybe a Chase Utley) I like C.C. alot, but I really dont care for taking pitchers that early..
Another question for you all, who is a guy I can get round 19-22 a prospect who is going to be good? We keep the player in the round we drafted him
