@coreymatthew so which Phillies pitcher wins the Cy young this year?
Good question! I think for the majority of the year Halladay was the shoe-in. However, If you look at Lee’s June and August, he pitched unbeLEEvable. If his September is anything like those two months I wouldn’t be surprised if she came away with the hardware at the end.
Wow! Just took a look at their stats – incredibly similar. There’s never been co-award winners. Is it possible that could happen this year? Not sure how the voting works. First of all, that would be amazing if it happened – and then even more amazing that both of the pitchers would be from the same team.
I’m about 95% sure it is a points system like the Heisman with weighted 1st, 2nd and 3rd place votes. I’m not sure if there is a tiebreaker based on number of 1st place votes or anything like that.
It would be interesting to see them tie or if one edges out the other by a single vote.
I have a feeling Lee will get it

@coreymatthew how is it that the Phillies are looking at either Melky Cabrera or Jeff Francouer as upgrades?

@coreymatthew boy the Phils are running away with this division…in any other division the Braves would be no worse than 2.5 games out (and they’d be leading 2 divisions) yet they are 6 games back

@coreymatthew even though they are down tonight you have to be pretty happy about the way the Phillies are playing
If they can keep this offense up with Rollins, Utley, and Howard hitting like they should be… they will be nearly untouchable with our pitching staff. Even though our middle-relief is a bit skeptical at best.
yeah they probably need one or two relievers and a RH bat who can platoon at multiple positions, other than that they are set

@coreymatthew hey man how’s it going? How was your European Vacation? I don’t know why I keep thinking of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsM0CwqGrBs
@Steve Shoup Hey bud, doing well. Just trying to get back to a routine schedule and figure out what time it is according to my body lol. Vacation was amazing, plenty of pics up on Facebook! Wish I could go back instead of sort through the hundreds of emails I have waiting for me, yippie! I am not even kidding, I almost got hit by a car in the UK like five separate times so this video was fitting! Hope you are doing well! Once I get settled and finish a project for Remix, I think I am going to right a piece on the Phillies revolving door of a disable list and their ability to still win.

@coreymatthew not good, sounds like Utley is going to need surgery, Phillies should probably think about bringing someone in.

@coreymatthew The Braves with the Uggla move could give the Phils a run for their money this year
I don’t know, as it was evident in the first round of the playoffs, I think the Braves issues go way deeper than just second base.
As they are constructed now you are probably right, but I do believe their young pitching and Heyward will get better. And i’ve always been a fan of their rookie 1B freddie Freeman. A lot will also depend on how Chipper can come back and what he gives them. A number of things still need to go right for them, but i like the corps they have put together. And I do believe the Phillies need to ’answer’ somewhat, even if it is just strengthening that bullpen

@coreymatthew I think they will be fine letting Brown take over for Werth, but given Ibanez’s impending Social Security check it might be wise to have a solid fall back corner outfielder (maybe above the talents of John Mayberry Jr.). Maybe a SP if they find someone to take Blanton (or at least part of his salary) off their hands.
Its hard to get a ready on them considering how injured they were. The only guys to play more than 150 games were Werth and Ibanez, so i guess the key is to stay healthy.

@coreymatthew hey man what moves do you think the Phils need to make this offseason to stay competitive?
I would love for them to keep Jayson Werth but I just don’t think they have the financial capability too. Unfortunately there first blunder of the offseason occured with not re-signing Davey Lopes as their 1st base coach. They were one of the best base-running/stealers in all of the majors over the last four years.
Bad move Philadelphia.
Also, I think it’s time to look at a more youthful option at left-field as well as a tighter front-end portion of their bullpen. Durbin, Contreras, Madson, and Lidge did an overall great job this year. Not so much for the other half.
