@Steve Shoup Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I’ve been doing well, exceptionally busy the last couple of weeks but that is a good thing. How about you? Glad to see great things are happening with fanspeak!

Good question! I think for the majority of the year Halladay was the shoe-in. However, If you look at Lee’s June and August, he pitched unbeLEEvable. If his September is anything like those two months I wouldn’t be surprised if she came away with the hardware at the end.

Not only has he been an asset on the field for the Phils. He’s also been great in the dugout, lockeroom, and philadelphia community. He’s really take a shine to the city and the fans. Best part… he’s our for a couple more years!

The eagles will definitely have one of the best pass rushing defenses in the NFL. Looks like the Eagles ownership took a page out of the Phillies philosophy… stay quiet the entire time and then snatch up the best free agent at the last second from pursuing NY and TX teams (see Cliff Lee)

In reply to - Steve Shoup posted an update: @coreymatthew Asomugha, wow! Well i guess it is good the Eagles finally have the CB’s to challenge Beck and Grossman :) · View

I keep hearing Carlon Quentin, BJ Upton, and Hunter Pence’s name thrown around. I honestly don’t know how I feel about any of those choices. I doubt Amaro will go for a rental so it will have to be someone that is locked in a contract for a couple of years or will sign an extension. Personally, I say pull-off a blockbuster trade with Singleton, Cossart, Brown/Mayberry, and another piece for Matt Kemp.

@steveospeak I don’t know I would go that far… but I also don’t know how Vince will handle watching NFL games from the sideline this year.

On a side note, after last night’s showing, the Phils need to make a move for a big-time right handed bat and they need to do it ASAP to avoid a repeat of last year’s NLCS

That would make sense but the Dodgers are crazy enough to not do that. They might be run worst than the Bengals. It amazes me that they need to both cut salary and rebuild yet are refusing to negotiate on a guy like Kemp who could do both.

@steveospeak I don’t see either one of those options as an upgrade. In fact, I’d rather see a platoon of Mayberry, Brown, and Francisco. However, I am now hearing Beltran’s name and possibly even Kemp’s in the Phils rumblings

yeah I feel they should go big. The Phils have a ton of young prospects including 1B Jon Singleton who is blocked so why not go for the gold (yeah JMU reference). They didn’t assemble 4 aces just to get beat in the NLCS or WS.

@steveospeak Thankfully I think we are starting to see the Phils as a whole live up to their expectations and abilities. For a good portion of this year our phenomenal starting rotation and back end of our bullpen kept us winning while our offense sputtered. Now that the offense is kicking in with Chase’s return and our bench doing an amazing job filling in when needed, we are becoming an unstoppable freight-train towards our destination – a second world series win in 4 years.

yeah barring a couple major injuries I don’t know who can catch them in the N.L.

If they can keep this offense up with Rollins, Utley, and Howard hitting like they should be… they will be nearly untouchable with our pitching staff. Even though our middle-relief is a bit skeptical at best.

@Steve Shoup Hey bud, doing well. Just trying to get back to a routine schedule and figure out what time it is according to my body lol. Vacation was amazing, plenty of pics up on Facebook! Wish I could go back instead of sort through the hundreds of emails I have waiting for me, yippie! I am not even kidding, I almost got hit by a car in the UK like five separate times so this video was fitting! Hope you are doing well! Once I get settled and finish a project for Remix, I think I am going to right a piece on the Phillies revolving door of a disable list and their ability to still win.

A Guest Blog By Corey M. Schwartz Pitching is often touted as the essential ingredient for winning championships while offense is often referred to as the entity that fills the seats. You would think that with a lineup consisting of players by the names of Howard, Utley, Rollins, and Victorino would be the guaranteed magnet that [...]

A Fanspeak Guest Blog By Corey M. In fact, the glow surfaces primarily from four individuals who do everything they can to [...]

I don’t know, as it was evident in the first round of the playoffs, I think the Braves issues go way deeper than just second base.

I would love for them to keep Jayson Werth but I just don’t think they have the financial capability too. Unfortunately there first blunder of the offseason occured with not re-signing Davey Lopes as their 1st base coach. They were one of the best base-running/stealers in all of the majors over the last four years.

    Bad move Philadelphia.

Also, I think it’s time to look at a more youthful option at left-field as well as a tighter front-end portion of their bullpen. Durbin, Contreras, Madson, and Lidge did an overall great job this year. Not so much for the other half.
