Since November 6, 20 percent of National Hockey League teams have fired their head coach. The carousel began in St. Louis, when after a 6-7 start, Davis Payne was fired. Replacing Payne as the first of six new head coaches would be ken Hitchcock, who last coached the Columbus Blue jackets during the 2009-10 season [...] -
Love the new NHL realignment. The Caps return to the glory days of the Patrick division with the Flyers, Penguins, Rangers, Devils and Islanders……Of course the Canes are also coming. The Great 8 and company will have to get much better because this isn’t the South East where you could count on winning 75% of your divisional games when your a good team. Look for my article on how this change will affect the future build of the roster.

You can bet that if it’s the holiday season in the Charm City, than the Baltimore Ravens are playing smash mouth December football. NFL Football in December is a different beast than it is in September, October, and for most of November. Thanksgiving is usually the cutoff when the contenders separate from the pretenders. Teams that succeed this [...]

Despite losing 2-1 to the white hot St. Louis Blues last evening, the Washington Capitals played nothing like they did over this past weekend when they dropped two straight games, ultimately costing their head coach, Bruce Boudreau his job on Monday. General Manager George McPhee replaced Boudreau with long time Caps great Dale Hunter, who [...] -

The Washington Capitals face the St. Louis Blues tonight to kick off the Dale Hunter era. Yesterday, the former Caps captain became head coach No.15 in franchise history. Hunter is the third coach in team history to have also played for the Capitals, having appeared in 872 games for the Capitals from 1987-99. Roger Crozier, [...] -

I’m not so sure The Great 8, who has been the ”Average 8” for about a season now, will be able to conform to Hunter’s new style. I know the other Alex is packing his bags. This should be one wild ride, and it all begins tonight versus a team that also recently hired a new coach.
How long before Alex Semin is playing elsewhere?
Hope Alex Semin is definitely traded soon as possible!
I really hope Ovi can conform to Hunter and silence his critics!
it is kinda crazy that both teams just replaced their coach.
I get what you’re saying about conforming to Hunter, but isn’t that kinda the issue with Ovie? He hasn’t been willing to be the two-way player and leader the Caps need him to be. If he’s not willing to conform then he’ll never be what they need him to be.
It’s not ideal to do this mid-season, but if the Caps take the next couple of weeks to get it all straight, they could be on the right path. Look at the Blues after 11 games under Hitchcock, for example…

The Harbaugh Bowl is coming, and I like the elder to teach the younger a lesson on Thursday. At least that is what I am hoping for anyway. Happy Thanksgiving, and remember, the day after Turkey Day is one of the best sports days of the year, not to mention the entire weekend.

Having lost four straight games, and six of their past seven, the Washington Capitals did not panic when they fell behind 2-0 last night to the Phoenix Coyotes. That is impressive when you consider how they fell behind. Washington’s struggling power play allowed not one, but two shorthanded goals. The first came when the Coyotes [...] -

While all of the attention will be focused on some guy named Crosby tonight, the struggling Washington Capitals return home to the big phone booth (Verizon Center) to take on a Phoenix Coyotes team that has won seven of their past ten games. Lefty Gomez, who was a great pitcher for the New York Yankees from 1930 through 1942, is credited by many historians, and “Brainy Quotes,” as having first said the popular phrase, “I’d rather be lucky than good.” After a 3-1 start, and coming off a bye week, the Baltimore Ravens could care less who said it.
