Steve Shoup started the forum topic Tyler Moore starting in LF tonight in the group Washington Nationals: 1 week, 4 days ago · View
With Werth’s injury sidelining him till at least August, the Nats need to find a fix for LF. Tyler Moore offers the most pop potential, but he’s pretty raw particularly defensively. Tonight will be a big test to see if he can play more regularly, as he gets the start.

Steve Shoup started the forum topic Surviving the Werth Injury: in the group Washington Nationals: 1 week, 6 days ago · View
The Nationals lost Jayson Werth to a broken wrist last night, and he could be out until at least late June (more likely early July). The Nats are already without LF Michael Morse until that time (and closer Drew Storen), plus Ryan Zimmerman, Adam LaRoche, and Mark DeRosa all returning from injuries (and maybe not [...]

Steve Shoup started the forum topic Stephen Strasburg set to return first full week in Sept. in the group Washington Nationals: 9 months ago · View
While no date has been set yet, it appears likely that Strasburg will return sometime after Sept. 5th. How do you think he will do when he returns?

Steve Shoup started the forum topic Trade option for Wandy Rodriguez in the group Washington Nationals: 9 months ago · View
I’ve argued already that the Nationals should put a claim in for Wandy Rodriguez http://fanspeak.com/washingtonnationals/2011/08/02/why-the-nationals-need-to-put-a-waiver-claim-in-on-wandy-rodriguez/ , but I wanted to include a possible trade scenario that could workout as well. Whether we claim him or he passes through waviers, I’d make this offer to the Houston Astros: Tom Grozelanny. That way the Nationals can defer [...]

Nick Hanson posted on the forum topic Should the Nationals pursue Albert Pujols next Fall? in the group Washington Nationals: 10 months, 2 weeks ago · View
A big NO. Pujols probably has at least a few very solid years of production left in the tank, but I believe pursuing younger talent is the best M.O. for them. The Nats should still continue to think long-term for one or two more years, then, if absolutely necessary, bring in an aging bat in [...]

The Nats could be in the mix for him next season. Baseball is starting to become fun and exciting for Nats fans b/c the team is moving up the food chain so to speak.

The wrist injury will need to be monitored, but I’m think the Nats are going to be in the mix for either him or Fielder next year

The Redskins analogy is a good one. Pujols has been great for a long time but by next year, he definitely will be into the downside of his career. And Jan makes a good point as well – what effect is the wrist injury going to have on him. I don’t think the Nats should [...]

I don’t think that the Nats should sign Pujols. He would be too costly, and we should put that money towards younger talent.

No I don’t think that the Nats should go after him. He will recover , but it will be very hard with a broken wrist to move to the point that you where at before it was broken. I could be wrong , but I will take my chances and say no go.

I think Megan is right. If the NATS have that kind of money, put it towards another good starting pitcher to help out the rotation.
