I’ve argued already that the Nationals should put a claim in for Wandy Rodriguez http://fanspeak.com/washingtonnationals/2011/08/02/why-the-nationals-need-to-put-a-waiver-claim-in-on-wandy-rodriguez/ , but I wanted to include a possible trade scenario that could workout as well. Whether we claim him or he passes through waviers, I’d make this offer to the Houston Astros: Tom Grozelanny.

That way the Nationals can defer some of the cost of Rodriguez and the Astros can save face by acquiring something . Although Grozelanny has struggled, he is a younger cheaper lefthander for the Astros, who given their rotation issues should be able to find a job there. If he doesn’t workout in Houston next year, they can decline to offer him Arb. for 2013. Seems like a win-win deal. What do you think?
