Preparing for REDSKINS DYNASTY!

Public Group active 1 week, 1 day ago

For any true Redskins fan! Comment or start forum posts about the Redskins here!

I smell DYNASTY for the 2010s! Why?

-Fired the team tumor that was Vinny Cerrato.
-Hired a legitimate and ACTUAL GENERAL MANAGER in Bruce Allen (the history and nostalgia doesn’t hurt there either)
-Fired Jim Zorn…nice guy but wasn’t doing the job!
-Hired an OFFENSIVE minded head coach with Super Bowl rings in Mike Shanahan.
-Hired an agressive defensive coordinator in Jim Haslett.
-Hopefully make impressive moves in free agency and offseason and we’ll be in business!

Who believes the same?!

Which players are on the bubble and who is most likely to make the team.

  • Picture Steve Shoup said 8 months, 3 weeks ago:

I still think Banks is on the Bubble, Paul has had a really nice game and I don’t know how you give up on that potential. I think Torain could get the ax as well. The fumble hurt Royster, but he’s playing special teams and looked good on the goalline plays.

I really hope Paul makes it! I think they should find a way to keep Banks as 4th special teams player…call him what he is…a special teams player…not the 7th WR. If so, go with 2 QB or less linebackers.

I think they should see if they can trade Torain…even if its for a late round pick. He’s humpty dumpty…always hurt!

It will be interesting Saturday to see who stays and who goes!

I think Torain has value and a trade should be possible, Arizona for one is a team with a huge need. I think he would be a nice change of pace back and with Wells as the main RB he would have less wear and tear. I’m not sure if Banks will make it the skins have quite a few returners who did a good job. I think durability may be a question, also he is strictly a return guy.But I think he is fun to watch and hope they can find a way to keep him anyway.

One that I think may be a surprise is Mike Sellers. Don’t ask me why but I just have a feeling. If they did cut him who would they replace him with I guess it would be Young, like I said just a feeling.

  • Picture Steve Shoup said 8 months, 3 weeks ago:

Sellers wouldn’t surprise me. I’m a little shocked they didn’t let K. Williams get more FB reps last night

I’m sure the roster has been set before this game with maybe 1 or 2 last minute adjustments. I think at most they were just trying to get through the game and move on to the Giants. There’s always a chance that someone will have an earth shattering game and tip the scale their way, I didn’t see anyone make that statement. Although some played a good game I don’t think anyone played lights out enough to create a roster spot for themselves.

Wow, wrong on so many counts. Good thing I don’t make my living as a prognosticator.

  • Picture Steve Shoup said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

yeah there were a couple surprises, esp. keeping 8 WR’s. I don’t understand keeping the same number of WR’s as OL. I’m hoping they are working on maybe trading Stallworth otherwise I don’t get it.

I don’t really mind the keeping of Sellers, or the cutting of Hicks, but both were a slight surprise

Why don’t they just come out and say that Banks was kept as a Kick/punt returner – not a wide receiver? It is misleading to say they kept 8 wide receivers. But anyway, to your point Steve – I too hope that they are trying to work a deal for Stallworth and get some OL depth.

  • Picture Megan Shoup said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

I agree with WP…Banks is the 4th special teams specialist…period. But I still think they should just keep 6 WR + Banks and try to trade Stallworth for anything (preferbly OL or DL).

  • Picture Steve Shoup said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

You can call Banks whatever you want to call him. The fact that he only returns kicks and punts is not a positive. You have three WR’s (Armstrong, Paul and Austin) with return experience, who are more valuable than Banks on Special Teams alone, since they can play on any unit.

What they should do is dump both Banks and Stallworth and add an O-lineman (something like 6 linemen were claimed yesterday, apparently none by the Redskins) and a D-linemen. Our depth along the D-line, includes our 2nd worst lineman from last year, the 2nd to last pick in this past years draft, and a journey man. Also, Carriker is just solid at best and pretty bad against the pass.

Our line play is what is going to matter most when it comes to our chances of winning, and instead we kept two guys who have little or no short or long term benefit to this team.

  • Picture Gary Struble said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

The fact is Linemen are at a premium and when you have an opportunity to pick up a player who can help, you better take him. There are way more WR’s available over the season that can be picked up. I would rather be thin at WR than on the lines. We have good depth with out 1st 4 receivers that unless 2 or 3 go down we should be able to find suitable replacements. With O and D linemen the deeper into the season the harder it is to find linemen that aren’t just warm bodies to fill a slot.

  • Picture Megan Shoup said 8 months, 2 weeks ago:

True…I think they should flip Stallworth for sure. And I do see your point to some extent to pick up 1 more OL and 1 more DL. Any of the ones your recommended still available?
