So it seems that Nick Fairley is the obvious choice for the Titans at the 8th pick, as they need someone to plug up that line. BUT, what do you make of the Titans working out Jake Locker? Despite a disappointing senior season for Locker, I still believe he has the skills to be successful at this level. He’s a huge presence in the pocket, has a cannon arm, and throws well while moving. I think this could be a solid choice for the Titans who have a young receiving core as well. If they bring in a young QB to gel with these receivers as they grow, Tennessee could potentially have a very potent offense in a few seasons… but i won’t hold my breath

Nick Fairley has really fallen huh?

Fairley was once considered to be the obvious choice at #1, especially after this National Championship game performance. I think he’s dropped on a lot of people’s boards not due to his own performance, but by others. Marcelle Darius has made his way up the board along with Patrick Peterson and Von Miller. Miller has all the physical gifts to be a STUD in the NFL in my opinion, and Peterson is as close to a lockdown corner as you’re going to get out of this draft. It’s developments like this in the pre-draft process that I believe has Fairley falling

My guess is the Titans are looking at Locker as a 2nd rounder (where I think he should go) or seeing if he is worth trading up into the late 1st round to take. I think they will look at DT, and likely Fairley if he is there at 8. They could go DE, or of course trade back, but i’m guessing if Fairley is on the board he’s a Titan.

Yeah I tend to agree with you Steve, especially because the success that the Titans had with Haynesworth locking down the middle part of that line has not faded from the organization’s mind. I think they’d love to use him as a building piece for this defense, which has talent but lacks some playmakers.

Yeah that is how i see it, the Titans need that star on defense and they know exactly how impactful a penetrating DT can be. If they can get Locker in the 2nd round (or another QB) then that is great, but I think Tennessee is too smart to let a playmaker like Fairley pass them by.
