For the Washington Wizards fans that still exist

Ok, it’s pretty tough to appreciate this franchise these days, so I thought I would make a fan group to boost morale (probably won’t happen).

Can’t Believe the Wizards got the 1st pick in the NBA Draft!! (3 posts)

I may actually start watching the NBA/Wizards now! Could John Wall have the potential of players like Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, etc.?

Does this mean we have any chance of getting Lebron James?

How many 1st round picks do we have…didn’t we trade away players for another one?

I really like Wall, and while it’s hard for a point guard to be a scorer like say Kobe or LeBron I think Wall can be a superstar player. I would put him closer to Chris Paul and I really think his career will follow the course of Derrick Rose.

While the presence of Wall could have helped land James on some teams I really don’t think LeBron would come to Washington. The Wizards front court is a mess and with so much bad publicity after the Arenas debacle I don’t think James comes here. Wall or no Wall. From the Wizards perspective I think they should focus on Free agent big men, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and David Lee should all be Washington’s top targets. While they could make a run at LeBron, getting a big man is a bigger need and a much more likely outcome.

The Wizards have the 30th overall pick from the Cavs (Jamison deal) as well as their 2nd rounder 34th overall. I would imagine they will look at both a small forward and a big man (possibly even two big men) with those picks. And likely let the board dictate which position they target first. Some late round big men I like for them include Jarvis Varnado, Gani Lawal, Craig Brackins, Larry Sanders, Keith Gallon. As well as 2nd round targets Jerome Jordan and tournament darling Omar Samhan. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade up if a guy like Daniel Orton or Solomon Alabi fall. As for Small forwards I think both of WVU’s guys Devin Eubanks and Da’Sean Butler make sense, as do Stanley Robinson and Quincey Poindexter. Whatever they do the Wizards need to come out of this draft with at least two other solid role players to go along with Wall. Washington made a big mistake last season not investing in the draft and it killed them.

I agree! It’s an awesome choice.
