    It’s been a long time since we’ve had a winning season, and the first week of games got all of us in Birdland excited about the possibility of seeing an above .500 team this year.

    But … let’s be realistic here. Are the O’s a better than average team? Is Buck the second coming of Davey Johnson?

    My final guess is a barely above .500 season … call it 82-80.

    Its kinda dissapointing lately because that first week was so exciting! I hope its more than 82 wins and hopefully they have a few more nice, fun winning streaks!

    I have huge concerns with this team, and I don’t think we can be successful unless the following happen:

    Matusz, Guthrie and Britton maintain low-4 to mid-3 ERAs
    Bergesen, Tillman and Arrieta can become solid sub-5 ERA starters at the 4 and 5 spots in the rotation
    Derrek Lee and Vlad Guerrero become consistent hitters
    Mark Reynolds starts hitting homers

    So far, only Britton and Guthrie have played well, and Matusz is still out. Lee, Guerrero and Reynolds need to step up, quickly.
