Waiver Wire Pickups for Week Seven

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Ronnie Hillman

Ronnie Hillman rushed for 100 yards last weekend against the New York Jets. The Jets are not an easy team to run against either. Prior to the game, there was a lot of questions about which Broncos’ running back was going to take over for Monte Ball. Because of the expectation for a three-headed monster approach, many fantasy owners stayed away from this situation all together. However, now that we have seen a game play out, it can be locked in that Ronnie Hillman is going to be the main guy for Denver for the next couple of weeks.

 Antone Smith

Antone Smith may be the third running back listed on the Falcons’ depth chart, but he has been the most productive by far this season. Through the first six games of the season, Smith has found the end zone five times. He may very well end up being this season Mike Tolbert. He is not getting a ton of yards, but he can definitely put up some points. He is becoming a very hot item in touchdown heavy scoring formats.

Cecil Shorts is a reliable wide receiver who could definitely fill in on one of your starter's bye weeks.

Cecil Shorts

This is the second time Cecil Short has may our waiver wire pickup list. He just has not been able to stay healthy this season due to a nagging hamstring injury. It looks like that finally may be behind him. When Shorts is in the game, he is by far the best wide receiver on the Jaguars. Last weekend, he compiled 103 receiving yards and was the most heavily targeted receiver for Blake Bortles. Shorts may not be a week in week out wide receiver, but with the season in full swing as far as bye weeks are concerned, he is definitely capable of being throwing in the lineup every now and then.

 Brandon LeFell

Brandon LeFell is one guy you must target in the waiver wires this week. He is quickly becoming one of Tom Brady’s most trusted option in the receiving game. Lately Julian Edelman has been struggling because teams are so focused on stopping him. This is the reason LeFell emerged with two touchdowns last weekend. You can expect that this relationship is only going to grow as the season continues.

Storm Johnson

Now that Toby Gerhardt is out with an injury, someone on the Jacksonville Jaguars is going to have the step up. It appears this guy will be Storm Johnson. Johnson only took ten handoffs on Sunday, but he was able to find the end zone. This is enough to keep him in the running for getting more carries. Toby Gerhardt has not been all that impressive this season. If Johnson can show that he is a capable running back, he may be able to keep the starting job even after Gerhardt returns from injury.
