10th overall pick in 10 team league PPR league rules:  1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 D/ST, 1 K, 7 Bench players     trent_needsresized

My idea going into the draft is that there is so much depth in WR and QB, so I was focused on running backs with my first two picks.  I can wait until the later rounds to snag a very good WR and a very good QB.  I will go round by round and explain the reasoning behind each pick.  I will be discussing this mock draft and much more on my upcoming radio show Fanspeak Fantasy Football this Monday July 15 at 7:30 PM.

Round 1:

1 Doug Martin, TB RB
2 Adrian Peterson, Min RB
3 Arian Foster, Hou RB
4 Marshawn Lynch, Sea RB
5 Jamaal Charles, KC RB
6 Ray Rice, Bal RB
7 Calvin Johnson, Det WR
8 C.J. Spiller, Buf RB
9 Alfred Morris, Wsh RB
10 Trent Richardson, Cle RB

Trent Richardson

Started rehab for his lower leg injury this past week.  If Trent Richardson can stay healthy this year, he can do it.  He can catch the ball out of the backfield, and he can be powerful with the ball in between the tackles.  I expect him to score a lot of touchdowns this upcoming year.

Round 2:

11 LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
12 Aaron Rodgers, GB QB
13 A.J. Green, Cin WR
14 Matt Forte, Chi RB
15 Drew Brees, NO QB
16 Steven Jackson, Atl RB
17 Dez Bryant, Dal WR
18 Tom Brady, NE QB
19 Peyton Manning, Den QB
20 Dennis Pitta, Bal TE

LaSean McCoy

In Chip Kelly’s new offense LaSean McCoy has the ability to be used in so many different ways which makes him very versatile, and very appealing for a PPR league.  Last season McCoy suffered a concussion, but was averaging almost 100 yards per game from the line of scrimmage.  I expect Shady McCoy to flourish in Kelly’s offense.

Round 3:

21 Cam Newton, Car QB
22 Jimmy Graham, NO TE
23 Julio Jones, Atl WR
24 Stevan Ridley, NE RB
25 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac RB
26 Brandon Marshall, Chi WR
27 Chris Johnson, Ten RB
28 Frank Gore, SF RB
29 Demaryius Thomas, Den WR
30 Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR

Larry Fitzgerald

With my 3rd round pick in this PPR league I decided to take Larry Fitzgerald.  This might have been a bit of a stretch because Ftizgerald did not have a good year at all with only 798 yards and 4 touchdowns.  I think with new head coach Bruce Arians and the addition of Carson Palmer, who loves to throw the ball deep, they will air the ball out all season long.

Round 4:

31 Wes Welker, Den WR
32 Percy Harvin, Sea WR
33 Roddy White, Atl WR
34 Darren McFadden, Oak RB
35 Victor Cruz, NYG WR
36 Andre Johnson, Hou WR
37 Rob Gronkowski, NE TE
38 Darren Sproles, NO RB
39 Randall Cobb, GB WR
40 Russell Wilson, Sea QB

Wes Welker

Wes Welker moving to Denver with Peyton Manning makes him a huge impact player for a PPR league.  Wes Welker in round 4 for a PPR league is not a bad selection.  He is not going to wow you with numbers each week, but he will be a consistent contributor.

Round 5:

41 Vincent Jackson, TB WR
42 DeMarco Murray, Dal RB
43 Jordy Nelson, GB WR
44 David Wilson, NYG RB
45 Colin Kaepernick, SF QB
46 Marques Colston, NO WR
47 Matt Ryan, Atl QB
48 Montee Ball, Den RB
49 Reggie Wayne, Ind WR
50 Mike Wallace, Mia WR

 Mike Wallace

I felt like in my position in this draft I had to plan ahead, another receiver who has the upside to be a PPR impact player is Mike Wallace.  Wallace left the Pittsburgh Steelers to join Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins this offseason.  Tannehill only threw 12 touchdowns this past year, but head coach Joe Philbin is not afraid to throw the ball downfield with Tannehill’s arm strength.  Wallace is the fastest player on the field at all times and will have multiple long touchdown receptions.

Round 6:

51 Danny Amendola, NE WR
52 Reggie Bush, Det RB
53 Tony Gonzalez, Atl TE
54 Steve Smith, Car WR
55 Eddie Lacy, GB RB
56 Eric Decker, Den WR
57 Dwayne Bowe, KC WR
58 Ryan Mathews, SD RB
59 Hakeem Nicks, NYG WR
60 Chris Ivory, NYJ RB

Danny Amendola

With this pick I was very close to drafting either Reggie Bush or Eddie Lacy at the running back position.  Than I realized that Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez left the Patriots who were Tom Brady’s 1 and 3 targets last year.  Someone is going to have to fill in for those receptions and if Amendola stays healthy he will have a huge impact.  You may be thinking why is he taking 4 WR’s in a row? Well while everyone else in the draft is scrambling for a #2 RB and a solid QB, I am racking in a great receiving corp with a solid Flex play in either Wallace or Amendola at this point.

Round 7:

61 Lamar Miller, Mia RB
62 Le’Veon Bell, Pit RB
63 Jason Witten, Dal TE
64 Robert Griffin III, Wsh QB
65 Vernon Davis, SF TE
66 Ahmad Bradshaw, Ind RB
67 Pierre Garcon, Wsh WR
68 Matthew Stafford, Det QB
69 Torrey Smith, Bal WR
70 Andrew Luck, Ind QB

Andrew Luck

With my 7th round pick I decided to go with a quarterback and Andrew Luck is on the board.  I had to draft him because he has so many weapons around him that were acquired by the Colts’ this offseason. I love this pick for my team and Luck has the potential to be a top 10 fantasy QB this year.

Round 8:

71 Antonio Brown, Pit WR
72 Kyle Rudolph, Min TE
73 Cecil Shorts, Jac WR
74 Tony Romo, Dal QB
75 Rashard Mendenhall, Ari RB
76 BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cin RB
77 Shane Vereen, NE RB
78 Seahawks D/ST D/ST
79 Tavon Austin, StL WR
80 James Jones, GB WR

Antonio Brown

The Steelers number 1 receiver spot is open for grabs after Mike Wallace left for the Miami Dolphins.  Ben Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Todd Haley like the short passing game, and Brown is a terrific route runner with great hands.  I expect Antonio Brown to get the targets from Big Ben that Wallace got last year.

Round 9:

81 Greg Jennings, Min WR
82 Anquan Boldin, SF WR
83 Eli Manning, NYG QB
84 Vick Ballard, Ind RB
85 DeSean Jackson, Phi WR
86 49ers D/ST D/ST
87 Antonio Gates, SD TE
88 Steve Johnson, Buf WR
89 Andre Brown, NYG RB
90 Texans D/ST D/ST

Texans D/ST

The Texans have J.J. Watt and Brian Cushing attacking the quarterback, while the addition of Ed Reed in the secondary will be able to roam free in deep zone reading the quarterbacks eyes.  The Texans defense and special teams are going to have a lot of plays on the ball this year, along with plenty of sacks with Watt and Cushing.  I expect them to be a top 5 defense this year.

Round 10:

91 Giovani Bernard, Cin RB
92 Miles Austin, Dal WR
93 T.Y. Hilton, Ind WR
94 Isaiah Pead, StL RB
95 DeAndre Hopkins, Hou WR
96 Danario Alexander, SD WR
97 Jonathan Stewart, Car RB
98 Johnathan Franklin, GB RB
99 Ryan Williams, Ari RB
100 Mike Williams, TB WR

Giovani Bernard

A rookie running back who will share time with Benjarvus Green-Ellis, but has the most potential out of any rookie running backs.  I needed a solid #3 RB behind McCoy and Richardson who I can substitute in without having a huge drop off.

Round 11:

101 Owen Daniels, Hou TE
102 Andy Dalton, Cin QB
103 Greg Olsen, Car TE
104 Jeremy Maclin, Phi WR
105 Jermaine Gresham, Cin TE
106 Jared Cook, StL TE
107 Broncos D/ST D/ST
108 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB
109 Bears D/ST D/ST
110 Brandon Myers, NYG TE

Brandon Myers

Needed a TE in this round and Eli Manning loves his tight ends in the red zone and third and short situations.  If I am going to weak anywhere on my roster TE is where I would like to be weak at.  Myers will not be a huge threat but he will be a consistent contributor.

Round 12:

111 Michael Vick, Phi QB
112 Lance Moore, NO WR
113 Kenny Britt, Ten WR
114 Daryl Richardson, StL RB
115 Jermichael Finley, GB TE
116 Mikel Leshoure, Det RB
117 Sidney Rice, Sea WR
118 Mark Ingram, NO RB
119 Patriots D/ST D/ST
120 Emmanuel Sanders, Pit WR

Michael Vick

Coming off a rough year from a fantasy standpoint.

Round 13:

121 Denarius Moore, Oak WR
122 DeAngelo Williams, Car RB
123 Bryce Brown, Phi RB
124 Josh Gordon, Cle WR
125 Bengals D/ST D/ST
126 Chris Givens, StL WR
127 Steelers D/ST D/ST
128 Joe Flacco, Bal QB
129 Malcom Floyd, SD WR
130 Jacquizz Rodgers, Atl RB

Jacquizz Rodgers

Rodgers will be backing up Steven Jackson in Atlanta but Rodgers has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.  He was also used in the screen game this past year and put up some solid fantasy numbers and I believe that will transition into this season as well.

Round 14:

131 Kendall Wright, Ten WR
132 Darrius Heyward-Bey, Ind WR
133 Bernard Pierce, Bal RB
134 Golden Tate, Sea WR
135 Fred Jackson, Buf RB
136 Mohamed Sanu, Cin WR
137 Ben Tate, Hou RB
138 Brandon Lloyd, FA WR
139 Shonn Greene, Ten RB
140 Sam Bradford, StL QB

Kendall Wright

Huge upside for a rookie WR and he can become Jake Locker’s go to guy.  May be a sleeper in some leagues but for a round 14 selection I am happy.

Round 15:

141 Rams D/ST D/ST
142 Brian Hartline, Mia WR
143 Mike Goodson, NYJ RB
144 Packers D/ST D/ST
145 Matt Prater, Den K
146 Alshon Jeffery, Chi WR
147 Zach Miller, Sea TE
148 Stephen Gostkowski, NE K
149 Blair Walsh, Min K
150 Martellus Bennett, Chi TE

Martellus Bennett

Bennett has gone from Dallas to New York, and now to Chicago with Jay Cutler.  Bennett was a consistent target for Eli Manning last year and if he can get implemented into the offense with Cutler he could be a solid fantasy TE.

Round 16:

151 Matt Bryant, Atl K
152 Matt Schaub, Hou QB
153 Ravens D/ST D/ST
154 Phil Dawson, SF K
155 Justin Tucker, Bal K
156 Michael Jenkins, NE WR
157 Dan Bailey, Dal K
158 Randy Bullock, Hou K
159 Sebastian Janikowski, Oak K
160 Josh Brown, NYG K

Matt Bryant

Everyone is going for a kicker this late, and Matt Bryant is one of the best.
