Fanspeak.com wants you to meet our guest bloggers. So here’s a little more information about the guys who help Steveo “start the conversation”…
Geoff Nelowet – NBA:
From Geoff: I’ve been a sports fan since I was 12, which was year 2002. I consider myself to be a passionate but generally pessimistic fan, as I’ve lived in the DC area my entire life, and I’m jaded by the inept franchises that I root for: the Washington Wizards, the Washington Redskins, and the Baltimore Orioles. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to change my tune, but at this points my biggest sports memories are as follows: The Redskins making the Wild Card in 2006 and the Wizards making it out of the first round of the playoffs in 2005. Since I’ve been a fan, my teams have combined for six playoff appearances, going 2-5 in advancement opportunities. Still a fan, just waiting for something to brag about!
Favorite Teams: Washington Redskins, Washington Wizards, Baltimore Orioles

Tyler Fenwick – NCAA Football:
From Tyler: Growing up, Michigan football was just a part of me and my family. We get together for all of the big games. But I didn’t actually start following football until last year. Now it is my deepest passion, and it ultimately led to me blogging about the Big Ten.
You would never guess Tyler’s age based on his blogs, but this kid knows his stuff! And we look forward to more of his coverage on the Big Ten!
Favorite Teams: Michigan Wolverines

Matt Cerimele (AKA “SLICK”) – NCAA Football:
Matt, AKA “SLICK”, is a diehard Michigan/Detroit fan with an honest, passionate outlook on his teams and sports in general. During College Football season, Matt gives his “Slick’s Picks” every week. SLICK will tell you who to bet on and he likes point spreads! He pretty much is loyal to all his teams, especially Michigan & Detroit Redwings.
Favorite Teams: Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Michigan Wolverines

John Manuel (“Stinger”) – A little bit of everything — Sports Potpourri:
From John: I grew up an all DC sports fan except for the O’s (DC didn’t have a team). Fortunate to have a family with Skins season tickets which got me to two Super Bowls and various huge Maryland games. Things haven’t changed except my teams have not been as successful lately.
John gives Fanspeak.com a little taste of everything as most of his blogs touch on all the sports Fanspeak.com covers. He usually refers to Reality Television and his Fantasy Football leagues. All his blogs have a humorous touch, as he is truly the voice of a fan who really pays attention to all the sports, not just his favorite teams.
Favorite Teams: Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, Baltimore Orioles, Maryland Terrapins

Brian Murphy – NCAA Football & Basketball, NFL, NHL, NBA & MLB:
From Brian: I grew up under a house that might as well had a Golden Dome on top, bleeding blue and gold. I am now a senior at Virginia Tech and, while I still love my Irish, nothing gives me goosebumps more than jumping to Enter Sandman in Lane Stadium as the maroon and orange Hokies take the field! I have lived in Northern NJ my whole life and am a diehard Yankees fan, along with the NY Giants and NJ Devils (while still rooting for the other hometown squads).
Favorite Teams: New York Giants, New Jersey Devils, New York Yankees, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Virginia Tech Hokies

Rob Yunich – A little bit of almost everything:
Rob Yunich is creator and blogger of the Caps/Hockey website Storming the Crease. He’s been a great supporter of Fanspeak.com. Rob is devoted to two teams more than others: the Washington Capitals and Syracuse University (mostly basketball). While he follows many sports, hockey will always reign supreme. And, in that sport, there are four that earn his ire more than others: the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. For Syracuse, there’s one true enemy: the Georgetown Hoyas.
Favorite Teams: Washington Capitals, Syracuse Orange

Alan Zlotorzynski – NCAA, NBA & NHL
From Alan: I cannot remember a time in my life when sports were not apart. I love all things “Balwmer”( Baltimore) as well as the Washington Capitals, MD Terps and oddly enough starting to love the Nationals a whole lot more. I consider myself more than just a little bit knowledgeable about the NHL, NFL and MLB. I have been to a Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup Final and one NHL All-Star game. Just because I have a love for the Ravens, O’s, Caps etc…does not mean that I do not recognize greatness in rivalries. My favorite coaches are Bill Belichick and Coach K. I love the history of sports and prefer Unitas over Montana and Ruth over Rodriguez and I will always take Ovechkin over Crybaby Sid. I was never more than an Al Bundy high school QB and baseball player, but I did play hockey for many years. What I prefer more than anything I have mentioned is my beautiful wife Gina and my four great kids. Thank you Gina for all of your love, support and patience as I try to realize my life-long dream, writing about sport. You can see more of my work at http://www.capitalshill.com blog and I also write columns for the Orioles and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Favorite Teams: Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals and Washington Nationals

Kyle Howard – NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Football and Basketball
From Kyle: For me I was basically born into loving sports, since 6 years old playing Tee Ball, I have been involved in sports my whole life. Being as my father was born and raised in Long Island, NY, I traditional have become a fan of the New York City teams. I am currently a Senior Marketing Major at Virginia Tech. I eat, dream, and sweat the Maroon and Orange. I have played baseball my whole life and I’m currently on the Virginia Tech Club Baseball team so the Yankees are my first love when it comes to sports. There is nothing like baseball in October with the Yankees competiting for another World Series Championship. I have lived in Northern Virginia my whole life and occasionally have to root for the Capitals and Nationals. I hope one day to work and live in the Big Apple for a sports marketing firm.
Favorite Teams: New York Giants, New York Yankees, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, Virginia Tech Hokies

Tyler Daly – NBA, NHL
From Tyler: I was put into my first recreational soccer program at three years of age and it was love at first ball. Ever since, I have spent a significant portion of my free time playing, observing, and developing an overall obsession with sports. I played predominantly soccer and basketball growing up, but I love any sport that gets you moving. People always ask me about my random assortment of favorite teams, but I promise they all have a legitimate reason. I live and breathe Virginia Tech sports and would say they draw the most passion and pain from me. I also really love the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Red Sox, and San Jose Sharks. I currently am the play-by-play commentator for the Virginia Tech Hockey Team and hope that one day I will have my own sports column in a newspaper, and/or a sports talk radio show.
Favorite Teams: Tennessee Titans, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Red Sox, and San Jose Sharks, and Virginia Tech Hokies
