Ravens Sign Rookie Arthur Brown

Baltimore Ravens NFL Draft News

Earlier in the day, I talked about LB Arthur Brown missing OTAs due to sports hernia surgery.  Now, Brown has signed his rookie contract with the Ravens.

All that is known right now about the contract is that it is a 4-year deal, like most rookie contracts.  One projection says that Brown’s deal will be worth $3.554 million, with a signing bonus of $964,896, and a 2013 cap hit of $646,224.

*UPDATE* Brown’s 4-year deal is worth $3.55 million and came with a signing bonus of $964,896.

Last year’s 56th overall pick, OT Mike Adams of the Steelers, received a 4-year deal worth $3,543,650, had a signing bonus of $1,017,200, and had $1,407,200 in guaranteed money. Since rookie contracts are based off a slotting system, you can look at the year before and get a good idea of what the contract will be like.

To draft Brown, an inside linebacker out of Kansas State, the Ravens traded up six spots with the Seattle Seahawks.  They traded 2nd, 5th, and 6th round picks to the Seahawks for their 2nd round pick.

With the signing of Brown, the Ravens only have two rookies that are unsigned.  They are first round pick, S Matt Elam from Florida and third round pick, DT Brandon Williams out of Missouri Southern State.

In other Ravens news, both S Omar Brown and RB Bobby Rainey have signed their exclusive-rights free agent tenders.  These tenders were worth $480,000.
